Youkilis is probably out for the season but it was already on Rotoworld that he was going to Cleveland tomorrow to get a second opinion before Olbermann's tweet. He's not done yet.

I heard something about Papelbon being put on waivers and claimed by an American league team.

It's most likely not much of a story because just about every player is put on waivers this time of year to see who will clear waivers.

So the debate on the Sports Hub today was if they would boo or cheer Ellsbury. What happened?

From what I've read, a lot of fans feel he hasn't been trying to get back as quickly as possible, he badmouthed Red Sox management, etc.

I understand frustration but would Red Sox fans rather he rush back and try to play hurt like what Youkilis did, and possibly find himself out for the season? Didn't team doctors tell Pedroia he had to stop trying to rush back/take grounders/whatever, or he was going to seriously injure himself?

So, Lester left the game tonight with a leg injury. Appears to be a cramp, but with the way this season has gone it'll probably be gangrene and need to get amputated.

I remember a few years back, the Yankees pictures were atrocious. There was a lighting problem, and the only ones that looked good were the dark skinned players. Ruben Sierra looked great. Everyone else looked like Britney Spears 2010

I didn't want to laugh given what that poor guy has really gone through in his life, but it was really funny.

I for one want as much media exposure for Merloni as possible. He is the #1 guy most likely to spill the beans on how pervasive PED use was on the Red Sox. Didn't he already basically come out and say that during his time on the team there were team officials giving oblique talks to the team about how to cheat without getting caught?

He was phenomenal in the middle start against Seattle but things unraveled after Patterson's error. He definitely wasn't sharp tonight. He seems to be in a little slump right now.

Well I just turned it on and it's 9-1 Cleveland, so I'm guessing the score wasn't the drama.

Yeah, there was no drama. Just getting our a**es kicked by a weak team against our best pitcher.

It only became a laugher late. It was 4-0 in the 6th, and there's a well-established rule when rooting against the Red Sox at Fenway: give Boston one run for every inning that remains in the game. If the visiting team isn't still ahead, the game is a coin flip. At best.

I'd say he's the last guy to do that.

His whole career right now is based on the sox - announcing, talk radio, etc....He might end up on NESN....

There's no way he's going to risk that.

What an absolute jerk. I'm watching that whole scene playout and all I can see are Beckett and Lil Dusty screaming, "f*cking asshole" in the camera. Niice.

Best wishes to him -- huge event in his life.

On the baseball side, it could actually be affecting his pitching... I remember Wakefield talking about how the lack of sleep affected him for a period after he had a child a few years back.

If you mean throw at him to back him off the plate or make him uncomfortable in his next ABs, it isn't that effective. At least, it hasn't been in the past. If you mean throwing at Ortiz to send a message to one of his teammates, I don't know why others haven't, but I know I'd throw at Youkilis. Easier target, less culpability since he hangs out over the plate, and it sends a bigger message since he's a much better player than Ortiz.
