And this is relevant on a Yankee site because....? Hey, I saw Pedro pitch this amazing game in 1999, maybe I should pontificate about it here. Share with everyone how amazing he was. Post some stats, kiss some butt. Yeah, I should do that here instead of around, you know, uhh, other Red Sox fans.

Interesting that Curt's last post prior to this one was on 10/28/09, a week before the Yankees won the 2009 championship, their inconceivable 27th World Championship, the next leader (St Louis) having 10, his former team, the Red Sox, a relatively paltry 7.

With all those championships, maybe he thinks Yankee fans are too jaded and don't accept congratulations?
In fact, Sterger claims that, in one of the photos Favre allegedly sent her, he's masturbating — while wearing a pair of Crocs.

Or maybe he just posts like once every 5-6 months

Greatest post season this or that falls victim to the SSS aspect every time. Joshie used to have that label as well- till he didn't. How meaningful is it to anyone with a little more depth of understanding about stats ( don't fret TimTIm- that's a rhetorical question in you case )

No doubt Kurt was a very productive pitcher- borderline HOFer

For us Yankee fans, his well deserved rep ( from MLB in general including many of his own team mates ) as an a**clown is a lot more interesting to talk about.

My response to your post wasn't worse because no one here takes you seriously - yank or sawx fan alike.

Just commenting on you channeling Eddie Haskell.

Do you really think Kurt hasn't done enough research on his own stats that they're not memorized? Does he really need help from a fawning fanboy to pump his ego up?

The interesting part of the scenario is what the sawx plan to do about Wakefield's production? His pattern has typically been great starts followed by ineffectiveness than the DL. He's seemed to skip the 1st part. He's been a very loyal soldier for the sawx

Yea I agree. Post season reputations change easily. Just like Beckett used to be considered the man in the post season, A-rod used to be considered a choker.

    2009 changed that.

Re: Red Sox Thread Version 5.0

    Speaking of Beckett: http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/mlb...ory?id=5232451

The Red Sox have decided it would be best to slow down the rehab process for pitcher Josh Beckett.

The right-hander has been on the disabled list with a lower-back strain and was able to toss a side session on Friday. During the session, Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell noticed Beckett was having difficulty repeating his delivery, so everyone involved discussed the situation at length on Saturday and it was decided to ease Beckett off.

Tommy, will there ever be a time when Curt can pop in here to chat without you licking his balls?

I've never had a signature here before, but there's no way I can let this one go without honoring it in some small way.

Yeah, and if Pedro comes in here and makes a post, I think it would be relevant. It's a Red Sox thread. There is nothing in my post that was inflammatory. Nothing.

Yeah, seriously. I'm actually one of the few that enjoys having him pop in now and then (I'm a Sox fan, so it should go without saying), but I don't feel the need to polish his taint when he does. I think if I were a possible future HoF ................ing pitcher stopping by to chit chat, it would honestly annoy me to have fanboys reminding me how terrific I am. As per standard, you're dragging the quality of discussion down.

A lot of the time, you seem like a Yankee fan who is trolling around as a caricature of everything he or she finds annoying about Sox fans. Maybe it's just me.

The same would happen when Curt was co-hosting the big show on EEI once or so a month. He'd get into some real good baseball discussion, or tell a real good story about some former players, and then you'd have someone call and just gush about him. "Yo Schill!! The bluddy sawk, maaannn! You're the best! You the man, Schill!!"

It was bad radio (not that the big show isn't bad 99.9% of the time), and always ruined the flow of the show. I think he spoke about it at some point, or maybe posted about it on SoSH about how it made things terribly awkward having to sit through that.

Nice game from Clay last night, he's really come into his own. Poor Zack Greinke, he sees the Royals offense come alive and get Bannister and Davies wins, but when he takes the mound they shut it down again.

LOL... not quite sure what's creepier. Gherig38's posts or the reacharound Tommy's puts on them. I think it's kind of cool that Schilling posts here, but I'm just kind of curious... if he wants to talk baseball, couldn't he do that with, I don't know, other baseball players? Not sure why he feels the need to drop in, defend various Sox players on an internet forum of the arch rival.

I especially like how he managed to inform Schilling of his post-season resume. As if Curt didn't have that plastered on every corner of the wall in his house.

He likes the fans. That's evident from his blog and radio appearances. Why here? It's fun to play with MFY fans. The dialog is more interesting than on fanboy or stat monger sites. That's why I visit, anyway.

I actually enjoy that Gherig38 posts here. It's kinda cool to see things from a player's perspective once in a while. If he wants to talk baseball, why not come here? Isn't that what we all claim is one of the main reasons for coming to this site for anyway? Maybe the guy just wants to talk baseball. I see no problem with that.

Now tommy's mancrush on curt, however, is kinda ridiculous.

    Misleading post.

I wasn't talking about using the term here.

As other Yankees fans noted at the time, there's (or was) an element to that term that connotes recognition that the Yankees have had the Sox number for years. Admittedly, of course, there's also an element of abject hatred.

In any event, it's obvious that the term isn't appropriate on this site, whether used regarding the Yankees or other posters.

Like I said, I think it's interesting too... just curious. I do think if he's going to post here it would be more interesting for him to not just do the fly-by "no really, this Sox player is a great person" and actually engage in some baseball debate. If he's not going to do that, why bother? Unless he enjoys the verbal rub downs he gets from the likes of TK8.

I don't think I've seen any back and forth from him since I've been here, but admittedly I may have missed something. I've only seen the occasional drive-by comment.

I had a few back-and-forths with him...none of them particularly friendly.

i remember one was about being a bad teammate..like the towel incident when he was on Philly, him questioning Williamson's injury when he was with the Red Sox, etc. which he still denies...

then there was one time where I posted that Kay said he googles himself every night to read what was written about himself. he said he didn't need to because he can read it here and SoSH instead of googling.

he told someone once he would hit them with a pitch if they stepped in the box wiht him.

There were a few times when he just stayed, and answered questions for an hour or so. SOmeone asked him who was the yankee he really feared facing, and he said "no way I am answering that until I stop playing," or something like that

Interesting that Pedroia's struggles this season have come at home.
I think it has alot to do with Pedrioa's approach-he stated in spring training he wants to hit 25-30 HR's this year. I assume he is trying to hit a HR and making more outs.....which I like
    Hoping Rivera can pitch forever!

I think it was way before that...around the time of his stupid remarks about who was a real yankee, shutting up 55,000 ny'ers, etc, etc..

Read interview w/ Lackey today where he must have said 5 times " I'm not worried ( over sucky performance )

If I'm a sawx fan or management, I'd be miffed.

Maybe you oughta start worrying- another poor line tonight - 4 runs in 6 innings ( 117 pitches )

The 2 high price items- Lackey and Joshie underwhelming so far

yes, those weren't real walks according to him. some twitter guy called him John Lackeyzaka.

    in other news:

    Van Every traded
The Red Sox traded outfielder Jonathan Van Every back to the Pirates, getting Single A catcher Josue Peley in return.

Van Every played in 21 games for the Red Sox after being acquired from Pittsburgh April 24. He was 4 of 19 (.211). The Sox designated him for assignment May 22.

Peley, 22, has hit .202 with one home run in parts of four seasons in the Pirates’ organization.
    lost one of their relievers.

The tear is on his left side, now he's feeling pain on his right side.

Lackey's velocity was fine. His control is what's killing him. Too many of his pitches were right over the heart of the plate, and the fastball he grooved to Barton was right down the middle according to the Amica Strike Zone or whatever it's called.

Lackey was worse after 11 starts last year (3-4, 5.18 ERA). He pitched much better the rest of the way. However, before that in his career, he was a better pitcher earlier on in the season and seemed to decline a bit as the season went on. Obviously, I'm hoping for a repeat of last year's trend but it's hard to predict exactly what will happen.

For all of the problems the Red Sox have had thus far with injuries and performance, being 5 out is not the worst case scenario.

Overcompensating? Left side hurt, so right side is getting overworked. Seems reasonable, though we can't know for sure.
