The people I take issue with are the contrarians. The folks that decide to argue for the sake of arguing, and do it in a mean-spirited manner.

The obvious examples are dealt with quickly. The Yanks fans negatives are a teaching opportunity
    I disagree.

    I disagree.
If that is indeed the case, I apologize.

PM me (or another mod) . Please not "wow Cano let us down" ones, but true CS violations. I, and even all of us, can't be eveywhere at once. OK?

Oh, trust me, I understand. As it is, the forum I'm referring to is often ignored altogether.

Hey, Lou, can you do something about all the name calling? For example, the people that are always calling other posters trolls when they don't like their opinions.

Kind of does. I'm an accomplished author. What can I say?

Ban trolls or ban the people who call other people trolls.

Everyone falls into one of these groups. Close the board.

What's funny is the idea that I call someone a troll because of a disagreement in opinion. Politically, I agree with a lot of what Linda says. I just grew tired of the way discussions always turned in the way of civility.

Oh, and that reminds me... probably nothing we can do about this, but is it possible to also block quotes from people we have on our ignore list?

    Re: What Do You Want?

This reminds me....It would be neat to see who has set you on ignore. My ignore list will always be empty as I welcome different opinions and never take something a total stranger on the internet says/writes personally, but it would be interesting to see this information.

I ignore no one (even before I was a mod). I can understand others doing so, howvever.

    Re: What Do You Want?

What jumps out at me are people asking for things that were changed or disabled to prevent the site from crashing. For example, indexing new posts for site search causes high server load, so it was disabled in non-baseball forums. Setting threads to show 100 posts at a time resulted in large results being returned from the database, causing the server to crash. These are just limitations we are going to have to deal with for the time being.

That said, significant changes are coming.

Thanks for the heads up, Jim. I knew that those things were disabled for performance reasons, but didn't realize it had to be that way long term. Looking forward to what you guys are coming up with.

Yes, place black tape over your monitor to cover the offending quotes.

I have never in my life encountered people who need technological assistance in order to avoid accidentally reading something.

Holding a viewpoint that is contrary or unpopular doesn't constitute trolling. People can argue their points until the cows come home, as long as it's done without being insulting.
If that line is crossed, action will be taken.

Unfortunately, everyone's opinion of what behavior crosses that line is different.

I've done so a few times before. Unfortunately, I get no feedback, ever. It feels like certain behavior is tolerated when no feedback is ever given.

I can only speak for now, going forward. If you bring something to my attention, I will always follow up. I can't promise you will agree with the decision, but I will give you my reasoning, if asked.

I know you mean so your username doesn't show up, but it makes me think of superpowers (and that horrible Clay Aiken song, which I heard in the supermarket the other day )

I'd like a birthday list and the ability to fly, please.

I don't think so. I'm enjoying myself on the forums these days, stepping back in would involve spending time corresponding with sox fans and getting in between fights with people I like. No thanks, it's a sucky responsibility that very few people really understand or appreciate. With the crap going on in my life i'd wind up nuking half the population just to get some peace. We'd be better off bringing Boobshell back and making her a mod.

I big thing missing on this site is the link to a previous post. When you quote someone on every other message board, there's a little button in the quote that takes you to that previous post. Pretty weird that there's nothing like that here

    No, it was intentional.

I liked being a mod, but in the end I didn't like who I was as a mod. Much love and appreciation for those who do it, even if I dont always agree with their decisions.

Does he really bother you that much? I just can't take him seriously. It's painfully obvious why he's here, he's not very good at it.
