The problem with this is--are they trolls, or just negative (they ought to be fricking ashamed of theirselves--see Cubs,Chicago) Yanks fans?

The people I take issue with are the contrarians. The folks that decide to argue for the sake of arguing, and do it in a mean-spirited manner.

The obvious examples are dealt with quickly. The Yanks fans negatives are a teaching opportunity

What's funny is the idea that I call someone a troll because of a disagreement in opinion. Politically, I agree with a lot of what Linda says. I just grew tired of the way discussions always turned in the way of civility.

Oh, and that reminds me... probably nothing we can do about this, but is it possible to also block quotes from people we have on our ignore list?

This reminds me....It would be neat to see who has set you on ignore. My ignore list will always be empty as I welcome different opinions and never take something a total stranger on the internet says/writes personally, but it would be interesting to see this information.

I ignore no one (even before I was a mod). I can understand others doing so, howvever.

What jumps out at me are people asking for things that were changed or disabled to prevent the site from crashing. For example, indexing new posts for site search causes high server load, so it was disabled in non-baseball forums. Setting threads to show 100 posts at a time resulted in large results being returned from the database, causing the server to crash. These are just limitations we are going to have to deal with for the time being.

That said, significant changes are coming.

Yes, place black tape over your monitor to cover the offending quotes.

I have never in my life encountered people who need technological assistance in order to avoid accidentally reading something.

Holding a viewpoint that is contrary or unpopular doesn't constitute trolling. People can argue their points until the cows come home, as long as it's done without being insulting.
If that line is crossed, action will be taken.

I don't think so. I'm enjoying myself on the forums these days, stepping back in would involve spending time corresponding with sox fans and getting in between fights with people I like. No thanks, it's a sucky responsibility that very few people really understand or appreciate. With the crap going on in my life i'd wind up nuking half the population just to get some peace. We'd be better off bringing Boobshell back and making her a mod.
