I don't think the Nets are serious in LBJ. They should focus on Melo. It gives them one more year to evaluate their talents and one year closer to the Brooklyn era.

I think Delante West literally screwed Cleveland's chances.

    Rose + Lebron > Gallo + Lebron

    BUT....

    Rose + Noah + Lebron < Gallo + Lee + Lebron

Any chance they keep Lee and somehow get Bosh?

    Pure speculation.

No, they've had much more success, and the Knicks are not the Lakers.

One of the first things Prokhorov did he and FCE agreed on the sale was sit down with Jay-Z and make sure he was on board. Here's a recent quote by Jay-Z:

“I sat down and [Prokhorov and I] had a fantastic conversation. There were things that I wanted to really make clear. I wanted to be an active owner. This is something that I really care about, and it’s not just a name cache for me and at it certainly isn’t at this specific moment making me any money. It’s really just a thing I love. And you know me, I love sports so everybody was happy with what I was saying. It looks like I’ll be taking a more active role in what’s going on and it should be fun.” – Jay-Z (NBC Sports)

All players come with risks. Wall's about as much of a sure thing as they come.

I would take Noah ahead of Lee on that team. He's obviously not the same scorer, but he is a much, much better defender and a significantly better rebounder..

No way to keep Lee and get Bosh, unless you're not signing any other big FA

Can you find the stats that say Noah is a "significantly" better rebounder?

Just watching Knick games, Lee always has outrageously high amount of rebounds.
The last couple of years there have been very few (Howard) that have averaged more rebounds.

Forget it I found the stats.

    Lee: 4.5, 10.4, 8.9, 11.7, 11.7 Career: 9.6

    Noah: 5.6, 7.6, 11.0 Career: 7.9

    How is Noah "significantly" better?

    Noah > Lee

Lee is good don't get me wrong, but Noah just flat out wants it more than anybody else in the league.

Per 36, Noah had 13.2 rebounds, while Lee had 11.7.

    Noah's ORB%, DRB%, and TRB%:
    12.9, 27.6, 20.4

    Lee's ORB%, DRB%, and TRB%
    8.4, 27.6, 17.9

5 Reasons Lebron will go to the Nets: http://dimemag.com/2010/05/5-reasons...w-jersey-nets/

    1. John Wall: The first step to LeBron’s path to the Nets happens tonight in lovely Secaucus, N.J. The Nets will show up to the NBA Draft Lottery and most likely walk away with the No. 1 overall pick, which, for this team, would almost certainly be John Wall.

Do not discount what Wall would mean to LeBron. In non-All-Star or Team USA settings, can you think of the best point guards James has played with in Cleveland? Mo Williams is far and away the best point guard employed by the Cavs since LeBron came into the League. And while Mo is nice, they’re not exactly reserving a space for him in Springfield. After Mo, it’s grim; the best runners up are Eric Snow and Jeff McInnis. Seriously. The only other PG draw in this free agent situation is Derrick Rose and Chicago, but in the grand scheme of things, the Nets scenario with Wall is much more appealing.

Maybe so, but a certain Nets fan has been talking smack about LeBron being a Net and not a Knick which right now is in serious doubt without having John Wall as a major selling point.

Yup. That certainly went up in flames last night. But last time I checked, Lebron isn't donning the number 6 @ MSG yet...and while all indications seem to be pointing towards that occuring, why take the risk?

EDIT: And if I'm said fan talking smack, since when is pointing out the pros of why he may (in a perfect world) come to a team talking smack? If you can show me one such post, I'll apologize.

There haven't been any indications at all that shows he is going to the Knicks.

I think he's more likely to go to Washington. He'll have John Wall, Arenas, Thornton and that's better than anything the Knicks have to surround him with.

sounds pretty similar to what he has right now in Cleveland- a cast of so-so role players and lack of a good coach.

Going back to thinking about what we should do if we strike out on free agents, I think we should revisit the potential David Lee for OJ Mayo trade that fell through. I think David would go there if they're willing to pay him and in D'Antoni's system with more touches I think Mayo could become a Brandon Roy type player. That also greatly increases the chances that Melo signs next offseason since they go way back and are very close.

They already have Kevin Love and Al Jefferson. Why do they want another PF? It doesn't make sense. And if they really want another PF, Al Jefferson or Kevin Love will be the one who will be traded, not Mayo. They can also fill their need through draft.

OJ Mayo plays for the Grizzlies. Kevin Love and Al Jefferson play for the Timberwolves. The Timberwolves have absolutely nothing to do with any of this. The Grizzlies don't want to pay Zach Randolph the max so David Lee makes perfect sense for them and they had a deal in place but Lee said he wouldn't re-sign with them if he was traded there. Then he said he would sign with them after it fell through.

I didn't know Osi Umenyiora was such a crybaby.

Meanwhile, Giants' Osi Umenyiora wrote on a Playmaker Mobile website that James should avoid New York.

"Personally, I think he should stay in Cleveland. I will say this, if he does come to New York, don't have a bad game. Not one, because Knick fans will come down on him. It goes both ways."

I was kinda scared for Mrs. Pollan when the Wizards got the first pick. I thought any second a polonium tipped umbrella would end up in her back.

The NBA really does not want the Knicks to be relevant for the next decade:
As per NBA spokesman Michael Bass regarding our earlier blog post and the report by Forbes Magazine national editor Michael Ozanian:

"Ownership of shares in MSG in a situation such as this would constitute Salary Cap circumvention."

If a player wants to invest in his team, what is the big deal? And I also don't see how it violates the CBA, considering MSG is a publicly traded company. LBJ should be free to invest his money however he feels, and that includes making a **** ton off of coming to the Knicks.

Because if a team only has $8M cap space, the team can offer a MAX FA $8M and shares for the compensation about the salary difference. That's how I see it.

It's a load of crap and it reeks of David Stern and his god complex. The fact is that they cannot stop Lebron from investing in anything publicly traded and if they tried to in any way block a transaction such as Lebron signing because they claim it violated the CBA they'd almost certainly wind up in a courtroom taking an L and wiping some egg off of their face. The CBA does not have anything in it referring to publicly traded stock so there's not a damn thing they could do about it. The only people who could have any say in it at all would be the SEC and that's easily solved by getting an intermediary to purchase the stock. The league needs to realize that it can't just make sh*t up as it goes along. If it isn't in the CBA you can't enforce it.

So according to this Post article Jay Z holds a lot of sway with LeBron and might convince him to come to the Knicks for 3 years and then opt out to join the Nets after they move to Brooklyn.

My gut still tells me he stays in Cleveland.

I dont see anyway he stays in Cleveland. He'd be stupid to. Their FO hasnt shown its been capable of building a title team around him. Im not saying he's def coming to NY....but I'd be shocked if he stays and puts his trust in Danny Ferry and the Cavs FO.
