But anyway.
We can add Jefferson to that list, Bargniani is pretty equal and would have better numbers if it wernt for Bosh, Okafor had a down year but still averaged a double-double and his better defensively. I would also take Bogut over Lopez.

No one in their right mind would choose the Nets over the Knicks. It's like choosing the Mets over the Yankees.[not trying to compare the success the Yankees overall have had have to the Knicks, just mean in terms of fan base/popularity/relevance]. The Nets are irrelevant franchise. Out of the 9 pro metro teams, they're bottom 3rd. Right down there with the Islanders and Devils.
Sorry but Lebron ain't going to the Nets.
I didn't say it was an advantage over the Knicks did I? My post was a response to the statement that the only reason the Nets are even in it is because of Jay-Z, which is simply not true.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch
Lopez is legitimately a positive. There's no debating that. Considering health, I don't think there's any question that you take him over Bynum.Originally Posted by b_joseph

Bargnani can't rebound, which is kind of important for a center.
Okafor is on the decline and isn't even close to Brook offensively. He is a better rebounder and defender though. He didn't average a double-double either.
Bogut I'll agree with if what he showed this year is what he really is. He's also had a tough time staying healthy though.
It may not be the only reason, but Jay-Z is clearly the reason why the Nets have gotten the audience with LeBron that they have. They'd be no different than the Clippers getting their meeting with Lebron if they didn't have Jay-Z putting in work.Originally Posted by jobasfistpump62

I kind of agree with the Jay-Z thing, but not 100%. I think the guys on the Nets are a bigger draw than the Clippers' guys because their guys are aging. Plus, LeBron would have to compete with Kobe to be the king of LA.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

Only reason why he doesn't own 1% of the Knicks is because Dolan wouldn't let him buy any shares.
Which looks to be an ENORMOUS mistake.Originally Posted by SLURPEE

No kidding, imagine if we had Jay-Z on our side as well. Damn it.Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

Oh stop. Lebron is not making this big career decision based on a rapper owning less then 1% of an irrelevant franchise. Let him hang out with Sean Carter as a Knick. He doesn't need to be a Net to hang with him.

I've been thinking about this, why didn't they let Jay-Z buy a share of the Knicks. It's not like he wanted a huge share. Was it an image thing?Originally Posted by Snatch Catch

-They talked about current players in roster and showed video about them and how they will develop
-Talked about future moves
-Told him that EVERY MOVE WE HAVE MADE THE LAST 2 YEARS (INCLUDING CURRENT ROSTER) WAS WITH HIM IN MIND WOW
-Meeting Bosh tomorrow, didnt mention Wade

I find it incredible that the Nets thread appears to be invisible to their own fans.
I'm starting to get the feeling that if we don't get LeBron, we won't get anyone (except for maybe David Lee and Redick! Woo!!!!).

Tying up their money in Gooden/Salmons...The Bucks and Salmons have been discussing a five-year, $39 million deal both last night and today, according to league sources. However, sources stressed that a deal is not done and details still need to be worked out. At issue appears to be the fifth year. The Bucks are pushing for that fifth year to be only partially guaranteed, sources said, but both sides remain committed to getting the deal done.Ok... Although, Salmons was a nice piece for them, but ~8 mil a year.. wow.
According to a suns beat writer on twitter a team has offered A'mare the max, thinks it could be the knicks.

Source is questionable, but this is VERY interesting timing if true.

I don't know if it was posted here during the FA frenzy, but the giant sign Prokhorov put up in NYC right across from the Garden is hilarious.
Back to the Knicks.
Why hasn't Joe Johnson accepted the Hawks offer yet? How long does it take to accept 120 mill?
Could it be he's holding out a bit to see does Lebron come to Knicks? Can't think of another reason he's taking this long to sign with the Hawks.
Agreed, James wanted Amare in Cleveland at the deadline, maybe he told the Knicks to go get him.Originally Posted by Yankees13

Also a poster that gets some inside info from time to time on our board say:
Amare got a non sign and trade offer from the Knicks for the max. Heat offered 15 mil split three ways. Suns are still at 4 and max and won't go more than that.
I think we might have just vaulted ourselves to the top of the LBJ sweepstakes.

Please get Amar'e. Even if we don't get LeBron, it's a heck of a lot better than JJ Redick and cap space.
Lots of smoke on this now, I think there's something to it.
"We understand that John Henry must be embarrassed, frustrated and disappointed by his failure in this transaction. Unlike the Yankees, he chose not to go the extra distance for his fans in Boston."
I will say I like Amare/James much more then JJ/James. We already have the outside threat in Gallo....adding the PF in Amare along with James would give us a very nice trio. Ive always felt we had a good chance at Amare due to his relationship with D'Antoni. Phoenix also doesnt seem willing to offer him a good deal....as opposed to Atlanta offering JJ the max.
If we can land Amare then we can say "look LeBron, we went over our plan and we already kept our word by signing your new wingman". Lets see if this comes to fruition. With James seemingly throwing out that July 5th deadline, we need to act quick.
I think if we end up with Amare/James then Bosh def goes to Miami to join Wade. And just like that the Knicks/Heat rivalry is revitalized once again.

I am trying not to get excited either....hard not to. Its amazing how many rumors and reports that have been out there the past few days. My mood swings have been ridiculous.Originally Posted by YanksFan1992

At around 1 PM today (having listened to ESPN radio for quite a bit), I was becoming certain that Bosh would be the only marquee free agent to change teams. Obviously it's still possible, but I was really pissed for a few hours.Originally Posted by dabomb2045

WTF IS GOING ON??!!? Amir avg 6/4 in 18 minutes a game last year. I'm assuming they are banking on increased production from him since Bosh is gone, but wow.
There are a few rumors (namely from an apparent friend of Amare's on twitter, although his posts have mostly been taken down) that Amar'e just left MSG and has all but signed a deal. It is also rumored that he spoke to LeBron before said meeting. I can't really prove any of this, as most of it has been taken down and almost all of it is from sources that lack credibility.

Well, apparently all of this was spread from a fake twitter account, and has been shut down by J.A. Adande and the like.![]()
Whats funny (or not funny)....is that the owners will likely lockout the players after next season. Yet the owners are the ones handing out INSANE contracts. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to give Gooden 7M, Darko 5M, Amir Johnson 7M and Frye 6M?

Knicks are in real, real free agent trouble. Amar'e is lukewarm on NY.

Like I said....either the next few days will turn our entire franchise around (James/Bosh, James/JJ, James/Amare) or it will be a stomach punch of the worse kind/epic disaster which will sentence us to more bad basketball (we get nobody).
I dont see any middle ground. If we get nobody, it cant be labeled anything but an epic disaster.

I'm not surprised. Why would anyone want to come to the Knicks? They've sucked for ages, their owner is a laughing stock and they've done nothing in the draft recently. I love NY, but the lure of the city is not sufficient to overcome the other crappy reason to avoid the team. I don't quite blame the Knicks - they did what they could, but you can not force people to sign here. Therefore, the plan was always on shaky ground. How can you plan for something that you have no control over?
Assuming they strike out, they are screwed because they've traded away some/most of their upcoming draft picks.
