One of the very few bright spots on the Yanks when I was a kid. My room was covered in Mattingly posters.
Dumb & Dumber
I used to really like Donnie Baseball.
If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
Happy Birthday Donnie Ball Game
GOOD LUCK TO US

The entry on Mattingly in the Bill James Historical Abstract reads, in its entirety:
"100% ballplayer. 0% bullsh1t."
A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.- Barry Manilow
My room is STILL covered with Mattingly posters!Originally Posted by BRNXBMRS

Favorite athlete of all-time. Anyone born in the 90s missed out.
Happy #49 to #23. A hero for all time. Almost 15 years since he played and homered in his final game at OYS - a great ballgame. Time flies.
the baseball player I grew up emulating... happy birthday old man
"You know what's coming," former Kansas City Royals first baseman Mike Sweeney once said, "but you know what's coming in horror movies too. It still gets you."

Didn't know Donnie Baseball was born on 4/20 - I guess that explains the mustache!![]()
Happy Birthday to the great #23!!
"We plan absentee ownership as far as running the Yankees is concerned."

By far my favorite Yankee growing up (and still is).
After Thurman passed, Donnie was by far my favorite Yankee growing up. I finally got to meet him this past winter, and I agree, a great guy who did not disappoint anyone at the card show we were at. Happy Birthday Donnie Baseball !!!!!!!!
God Bless America!!
Happy Birthday Donnie Baseball...as my favorite yankee, I always try to get his #23 for my uniform on the softball teams I play on...and wear eye-black in his honor - hopefully he gets the nice gift this off-season of the Dodgers' managerial position

yea being born in 1990, and not really following baseball until 96-97, i hate that i never got to see him play. although from a lot of video that ive seen of donnie in his prime, tex seems to be the closest thing to him.Originally Posted by tiscipa165
The sad thing about Donnie that he was probably a few shipments of HGH away from making the HOF. As a 9-year old, his HR on bat day against Texas is one of my favorite memories growing up. Pat Kelly won the game with an eighth HR off the Goose. Still have the bat.
