Thread: Requests (Please)

  1. #1

    Requests (Please)

    Any chance we could:

    1) Have the search restored for all the forums?

    2) Have the Birthday Calendar updated to the present?

    3) Have the ability to view more that 25 posts per page?

These were all things that were available in the past. Thanks in advance for looking into these requests.

We will be looking at these sometime this spring, along with some other things.

The search function only works in the baseball and sports forums now..not for any of the community forums like JC, SB, PS, etc.

I could live without the other requests but the search function would be great to have back...I tried to look for a recipe the other day - forget it.

I've had this happen to me so many times. What a drag.

I don't understand the need for a multi-quote function. You can apply quote tags and do it yourself.

It's much faster and easier with a multi-quote function.

Multiquote would make each forum page 3x as long. Imagine having to sort through President Kennedy responding to a post by Nathan, responding to a post by TheoShmeo, responding to a post by President Kennedy responding to a post by Mr Coffee respoding to a troll post by Nathan.

I'd like to see a modified version of the 'leaderboard' come back.
Maybe only forumers that have 10K posts would be able to use it...

We had multiquote. It didn't do that at all. I'm not sure but that sounds more like you're talking about threaded responses. Multiquote allows you to respond to several posts, you pick 'em by checking a box, with one response. It actually saves space over responding to multiple people individually and makes the thread easier to follow, not more difficult.

It's especially useful if there are, lets say, 3 pages of replies since your last post in a thread. You want to reply to a post, but you still have 3 pages to read. So you click the little box and keep reading. At the end, you can just quote reply and all the posts you quoted will be in one thread. Much easier than doing them all manually.

The ignore feature is terrible. If someone quotes a person you have on ignore, you still see what that person posted.

It's called "Ignore", not the "Auto Erase Whatever The Idiot Wrote" feature.

If you put someone on ignore, then you can't see what THEY wrote, and they can't PM you, since they're blocked. Only Mods & Admins here can't be blocked (at least that was the case quite a few years ago).

Spare me, I know what it's called.

I've been on forums where the ignore feature actually did just this from your perspective. You put that person on your ignore list & not only did you not see their post but their screen name wouldn't even show up when you're logged in. It's like they didn't even exist. If they could develop that type of feature for this site, it'd probably be much more peaceful.

I know I'd love to put a bunch of people on ignore so I don't have to scroll through a bunch of crap to get to something worth reading.

Maybe those peepz have a more recent version of vB softwre than we do. I've also heard of the "find out where they live" feature, which, when coupled to its "hunt them down and kill them" add-on, helps to insure that they won't bother you in the future.

Thank you, Bub, because that's something that has bothered me for a while. Don't put words in a person's mouth who never intended to say that. It isn't clever and it isn't cute.

I know you have, and I've asked people many times in various threads not to do it. We can use some updates to the Community Standards here and this should be one of them.

I don't mind when it's done as a joke some times and places, but I absolutely hate when it's done in the PS!

That is exactly how I feel. If it's done as a joke, that is fine, but when someone is making a point and alters what someone else says, that bothers me.

I miss the one where you could see who the top posters here were. Anytime someone said that I had no life, I mentioned to them that they had many more recent posts than I did.

Besides, my post count came up when the GTs where in the "Yankee" forums. Back then, 13,000 posts drew dropped jaws. Now it's nothing new.
