That just means it's been your fake name for a long time.

That's OK. I'm not a real doctor. I get told that pretty regularly.

I nominate your post as the post of the day. I missed it, but it's very clever.

I'm sure we agree on alot more I just don't vocalize it. I have these (for lack of a better word) tiers of music that I like and you'd be surprised what falls into the second tier. It's a pretty wide spectrum. From classical to R&B.... if you exclude punk and emo you'll find music from pretty much every genre.

Huh...okay. I didn't get that sense from your posts. My favorite time in music, by far, is hip hop from the late 80's, early to mid-90's. But I like a lot of cheesy things too. A lot of times you will say a song or band that you hate and it's usually something I like.

Specifics I hate: Nickelback, 311, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, AC/DC, Kanye West, Dave Mathews, Lars Ulrich, Ronnie James Dio, all emo and all punk.

There may be specific songs I hate from other artists but those are the only ones I will repeatedly trash because I have actual hatred for them.

I agree with you on Nickelback (I shudder just thinking of their songs), emo and punk. The rest I either don't really think much about either way or actually like (like Dave Matthews). AC/DC? Really?

I somehow doubt that Brian Johnson or Bon Scott are able to inflict your body with the chicken pox virus simply by hearing their vocals.

IMO, the Bon Scott ACDC is much better than under Brian Johnson, but I really do like both.

seriously, you should give a listen to the old ACDC if you haven't. Bon Scott's music had a whole different feel to it, and it's more of the throwback hard rock. Sort of like Too Fast For Love doesn't really sound like the rest of Motley Crue albums.

I've heard the old AC/DC and I don't like it at all. Somehow they managed to have two singers that make me want to punch a llama in the face when I hear them. At the same time they have a guitarist that gives me the creeps. Seriously man, that dude has serious mental issues, and not the kind that makes you interesting.

One thing I can say about AC/DC, if you forget the name of the song you're hearing, they'll let you know every 15 seconds or so what it is.

That just cracked me up, although I don't mind most of those songs...I fully admit I have terrible musical taste, though. I like some good stuff (classic alternative and such) and some real crappy stuff (hair bands, fake metalish or punkish top 40 stuff), basically, name a genre, I like some of it.

Yes, all of it. There is not a single punk band you can suggest that I will like. Many have tried. I've been exposed to enough of it to feel comfortable making this kind of harsh generalization. And I particularly can't stand the Ramones. Not because I think they are worse than anyone else, but because they are thought of as so good, and people always bring them up when I say I can't stand punk. Yes, even the Ramones!! Hey, ho, lets' go..... ugh.... the agony

I love the Ramones, but in small doses - and I love those other bands, and plenty more, in much bigger doses as well.

But hell, I don't like heavy metal, so who am I to talk?

I'm starting to dislike metal myself. At least post 1999. There has been very few bands that have really made any kind of impression on me in the last decade in that genre. I have almost completely moved on. I just can't take the inaudible screaming for an entire album.

Don't be so apologetic. I know plenty of punk fans and it's cool with me. As long as you don't say your favorite band is Green Day.

Progressive Rock is the way to go. Dive down into it. Start with Progressive Metal then go from there.

Anathema is an interesting band. Their first two albums were Doom Metal, then they morphed more into Progressive Metal, then more Progressive...

Yeah, but I don't even like Led Zep (mostly because I can't listen to Robert Plant).
