The Official Watching The Scoreboard Thread 4.0

Another year, another watching the scoreboard thread.

Strasburg's apparently going to start for the Nationals on Tuesday.

    Decent first outing for Strasburg:

    2 IP, 2 hits, 2 K's.

I started this thread the last few years even earlier than this, and I figure there are at least a few interesting storylines in spring training.

It's weird, but some people seem to get some sort of "satisfaction" from starting a thread.

I deeply apologize for starting a thread to talk about baseball on a baseball forum. Forgive me.

I remember last year I started a countdown to the postseason thread with about two months to go in the season. On man were people angry. You'd think they were being charged per thread or something. It was quite funny actually to see how upset they got over something so innocent and inconsequential to their daily lives. Some people just like to bitch for no good reason I guess.

P.S. I'll be starting the same thread at the same time this year. I figure we won the world series with it last year, so....

Re: The Official Watching The Scoreboard Thread 4.0

Hey, there's nothing wrong with a "watching the scoreboard" thread. I just think it ought to be started when there's actually some meaning to what's on the scoreboard.

And if you want to post a random observation like how Strasburg did in a ST game, there's plenty of other places that could go. How is that even relevant to the "scoreboard"?

To be fair, not many performance threads in ITL are started in April.

If starting it this early was a bad idea, I apologize, but I guess it can go without any replies for a while if need be.

Two home runs for Pujols so far. I haven't been totally watching the STL/CIN game, but it seems very sloppy.

Phillies lead the Nats 11-1. Nationals actually scored off of Halladay in the first inning. The Nationals announcers are totally terrible, BTW.

But have you seen the MASN Nationals commercials? They're horrifying.

    Two homers? Man's a beast.

Shaun Marcum has a no hitter through 6 1/3 innings in Texas. This guy missed the entire 2009 season. It doesn't look like a fluke either, he's dealing.

EDIT: As I hit post, Vladdy singles.

Heyward with a no-doubt three-run homer in his first MLB at-bat. That kid is gonna be fun to watch.

That Heyward blast was awesome. I'm a big fan of the kid. (And I'd say that even if it wasn't against one of my least favorite players.)

Cox has Melky batting leadoff. That seems like an odd choice.

The order is a bit strange... McLouth batting 8th?

That Heyward blast was a thrill to watch

Through his first 30 pitches Verlander has hit 100 three times and is throwing nasty 90mph changeups to go along with his 85mph curve.

I know, he hit it seconds after I posted.

    Though I think I'd still take 240 IP of 133 ERA+, 269 strikeouts and a 1.17 WHIP.

The Tigers announcers just said Damon will be faster on the basepaths and in the field than Granderson was. Umm, are they aware that Johnny isn't 32 anymore?
