Thread: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

I was just watching this special on the MLBN and it had the SF Giants entire team, I think at least, do a Q and A for season ticket holders. I know the mets did something similar for their season ticket holders. Now I realize, the Yankees have soooooo many ticket holders that something small like these things are tough to do. But lets be realistic, there are a lot of plan holders who just buy the plans to resell them with no intent on going to a game or have any sort of likingness of the Yankees. I really feel there should be something other than a crappy christmas card and a nicer looking ticket for dedicated season ticket holders.

    Anyone else agree?

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

In the old days, fans would only buy tickets to attend games. Ticket scalping is now legal. Stub hub with MLB makes it easy to resell tickets for above face. Also, The Yankees and MLB makes money off of stub hub. The Yankees don't care who buys and resells the tickets. Tickets are on a Free Market System. The Yankees treats their ticket holder much better than the Mets treats theirs. The Mets force their fans to buy tickets that Know one wants with little resell value. look at the Mets 6 packs and Sunday plus. packs.

For premium games, but for most games, it was trivially easy to get tickets on stub hub or elsewhere below face.

The harsh reality is the Yankees are successful enough that they don't have to. If they went on a 10 to 15 year drought including no playoffs for multiple years they'd have to do something.

Right now, they can absolutely take some fans for granted. They know the demand is there.

Even when they've screwed up things like the obstructed bleachers... people complained a lot. It reached the media and they lowered the price. End result is people think wow what a deal by the Yankees.

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

This Year, A brought a couple of Yankees games on Stub hub for face Value. I did not see many tickets for any Yankees game below face value. I think for most non premium games will go for face value or a little bit more. No one will lose money.

Don't they give us the privelege of purchasing $6 beers and $12 sandwiches? What else do you want?

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

I agree with you , they should do something more when you look at the benefits, they are very basic. I've always felt they should do maybe meet the players events were just a few players are there to take Q AND A and sign a few Autographs. But then agian you get something very special and thats attending games of the 27 time Champs!

I don't know what to tell you - I routinely found tickets in 2009 below face value, and didn't have to look hard to find them.

The Yankees have given their season ticket holders 18 straight winnings seasons and trips to the playoffs in 14 of the last 15 seasons.

I used to be a partial plan holder for the Montreal Expos when I had a vacation house in northern Vermont, an hour from Montreal. If there ever was a team that needed to get fan support and sell tickets, it was them. They averaged 8,000 fans per game on weekends. Well, they gave the fans nothing except a bobblehead of Youppi the mascot.

I had a voucher pack - it was good for 20 individual tickets to any games any time in any seat except the field boxes. They realized that everyone was getting box seats (the section immediatey behind the field boxes) with the vouchers, so the next year they limited the vouchers to the cheap seats three levels up from the field. So, people stopped buying voucher packs.

The Yankees give us a great team in a great stadium in a great city, reasonably priced tickets, and presale access to playoff tickets. There is basically nothing to complain about.

The Yankees don't do it because they don't have to, and the bottom line is what concerns them.
When people stop buying season tickets then they will reevaluate their policy

Does this occur only for NYY home games? I've never gone through StubHub but really want to go for NYY @ TB tickets this coming season...I also wonder if StubHub is better than getting the tickets through NYYFans...

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

There is always someone who will panic and sell their seats below face value on StubHub. The key is to check and find them because such tickets go fast.

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

Winning is enough for me. Makes tickets I can't use easy to get rid of. I have plenty of Rangers and Knicks subscribers gifts and food vouchers. Would trade them in a heartbeat for a championship.

exactly, thats why I dont understand people dropping their 12 or 15 game plans for buying games off of stubhub. consider 2009 an anomaly, 2010 prices will be at or above face.
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

$20 grandstand seats that we can almost alway sell at face or above is great. With a 20 game package last year I sold a few games above face that paid off my entire season so that is good enough in my book.

I've never tried to buy yankee road games, so I don't know, but the Rays didn't sell out their home games against us last year (other than the first two games of the home opening series), so I'd think it's an easy enough ticket.

Unfortunately for us the Yankees don't need to do anything special to retain customers. It would be great to have a meet & greet with players, get to run the bases, free memberships to this and that, but it won't happen because you'll still buy the tickets without it

True but Stubhub gets you on the fees. It's a little deceiving.

right, thats the kinda thing im looking for. dont get me wrong, i am very grateful that they attempt their best to put a winning product on the field. i know there are very few organizations like the yankees, but a little thing like running the bases or putting together a fan fest like the twins have.

but youre right, the yankees dont need to do anything special to keep us cause they know someone else could easily come right in and take our seats right now

Re: Why dont the Yankees do anything Special for Season Ticket Holders?

I don't think that can do it because of the amount of season ticket holders they have.

The Rangers do some really cool stuff and the reason they are able to si because there are less holders and they spread the events out over several days and keep it low key.

If the All Star thing at the Javitz Center was any indication of what it would be like.... I would stay away. There was a pretty fun charity 5k at the Stadium last summer where you got to run the warning track and and go through the concourse.... That was enough for me.

Last year the Yankees did Hope Week for kids with cancer, burns, bad medical conditions, etc.. which was completely awesome. If they do that instead of meet & greets with STH I have no complaints

No, see I consider the Hope Week a community thing and it was an excellent image booster for that team. I can def see them doing it again this year because of what a great success it was last year. Yes, it's a great thing but has nothing to do with season ticket holders.

I've met enough famous people and athletes to know that most of them aren't the nicest people. Last year, at spring training, when Swisher went out of his way to sign for kids, Brett Gardner wouldn't even look back.

That statement is not a joke. The Red Sox don't let you have season tickets. (They are not available. I think there is some waiting list process.)

Exactly. the sox have very few season ticket holders compared to ANYONE else in baseball, and it costs to get on that waiting list (from what I understand, the cubs are the only other team with an official wait list, except that its free). oh, and if the sox office catches you selling your tickets, your pretty much blacklisted, which is why most re-sellers who have season tickets list that "its in between row 'x' and row 'x' ".

if you are within like the first few hundred or thousand on the Sox wait list, then you are offered some sort of partial plan, I believe its called the "N" plan, which stands for midweek NIGHT games. like a 12 game pack, with partial postseason rights. I'm not too sure.

but its true. most yanks fans who dont have season tickets are trying really hard to get, and I personally feel that I take it for granted that I'm fortunate enough to have.

The Yankees don't do anything special because they don't have to.

What incentive do they have to spend money on fun things for STH'ers when they sell their ST's out every year (or come close to selling out their season tickets every year)

They should have a pre sale like the Mets are today.
I went online and found several seats on the field level, in the Ebbet's club, Caesar's club virtually everywhere.
The Met's care about their fans so much that they are unable to sell season tickets (or so it seems) and have seats available to every game, including the opener, in every section.
Its ironic that the only games they are not selling seats to are the games against the Yankees.
I am just waiting for the new thread to say that the Yankees ticket office is not allowing the Mets to sell them, as they do not think anyone should be allowed to buy seats to see the Yankees play in New York just yet.

Speaking of...if anyone actually does want to buy Mets tickets today, the password is COMEBACK (haha this is hilarious)

Honestly... they simply don't have to promote that heavily to sell their season tickets.

I've been season ticket holder for years and, after some thought, I once again sent them my money.

    I made a profit btw.

Always thought it would have been an easy and nice gesture if those holiday cards were signed by any of the hundreds of present or former Yankees.

One signature per card. Have each present or former player sign a couple hundred cards at the Old Timer's Day ceremony.

Wouldn't it be cool to open up your card in December and have a signature underneath the holiday greeting from Reggie Jackson or Phil Hughes or whomever?

I wish the Yankees would do what the Angels do for their season ticket holders - they send a package with all of the giveaways for the year, one per seat to all their season ticket holders. It is a very nice perk because you don't have to worry about rushing to the stadium and risk them running out. It's a small thing but it would make me and probably many other people very happy.

They do this at a charge, and so do the phillies (for $179), and many other teams...
