Yankee fan cancels season tickets because of off-season moves

    http://newstadiuminsider.blogspot.co...ir-ticket.html

    Hilarious

"(My) list of transgressions includes bringing in players who have already proven they are capable of succeeding in ny ( nick Johnson and Javier vasquez), destroying the farm system that was finally being built back up to aquire older players who have had mediocre careers (granderson) and today the signing of winn in order to save some money instead of bringing back one of the most productive players as well as a great teammate, Johnny Damon was the final straw ...
"This offseason has not instilled this same confidence, so I regretfully must inform you that I am cancelling my ticket plan. I am no longer a ticket package holder for the Yankees, but I remain what I will always be, I lifelong Yankee fan."

So bringing in players "...who have already proven they are capable of succeeding in ny..." is a transgression? I guess he wanted to bring in those guys like Whitson, et al.

I hope he had a pair of Infield Grandstand seats for the Saturday+ plan.

Hey, you don't like what the team is doing, cancel your plan - I have no problem with this - it's your money, do what you want.

If so I am canceling my school taxes.

There is a wide gulf in our fan base.

It's something I remind myself when listening to callers of NY sports radio.

Hey I almost canceled my partial plan because I was so angry that they dumped Buck Showalter...but fortunately I didn't (and you know the rest of the story)

Exactly. He's a fan of the team, he should complain if they weren't making moves or trying to better the club. I think this is just because they didn't want to go over budget (i.e. they didn't want to pay for the tickets anymore.) Probably has a kid on the way or something.

The only way I would ever pay for season tickets is if all food and beverages were free. The ticket prices are ridiculous enough as it is.

If you can't afford it, that's one thing. I couldn't afford it so I had to give up my partial plan. This guy is giving his up because of Javier Vazquez and Nick Johnson and losing Damon.

The dope will probably regret it when the season gets under way and the Yankees show what a good team they are again. The only one he's hurting is himself; I doubt the Yankees will care as someone else will take those tickets

What amuses me is on the front screen of the forum all you see is "Yankee fan cancels season" and I"m thinking how powerful that one fan must be.

What bothers me is that most people think all Yankee fans are like this guy-spoiled & fair weathered. I watched & cheered for the Yankees through the 80's and early 90's when they were horrible. i wish the media wouldn't give a guy like this any attention at all.

when he says granderson is mediocre he loses all credability as a fan of baseball and the yankees- I dont buy the whole thing- sounds like a plant that for some reason was taken seriously by some

I swear this was all 100% authentic. No plants involved. It almost seemed too good to be true, but the guy forwarded me the email chain.

Anyway, if you check out the blog, I posted a follow-up interview with the guy who canceled his tickets. He isn't as ignorant as his email indicated.

His only good point would be the oblique reference to our having lost Arodys Vizcaino. However, perhaps I am giving him too much credit.

LOL LOL!!! Jerome from Manhattan is awesome!! I crack up everytime I hear him. I actually think the FAN or ESPN radio should give him like a 10 minute segment on one of their shows. I don't hear him so much on the radio these days. Anyone know what happen to him?

He was on Somers last week vowing to become a Red Sox fan because of the Yankees' offseason moves. Then another guy called in and called Jerome a "ward of the state," which was cruel but let's face it, pretty accurate.

The fact that Steve Somers is still on the air is befuddling to me. His nonstop drivel and whining makes him unlistenable. I literally will change the station every time I hear him on.

I wish they would give his hours to Tony Paige or even Evan Roberts on his own.

Are you sure he wasn't joking or being facetious? Just listening to him I can tell he's a die hard Yankee fan. The guy is just so ridiculously funny. Maybe he didn't take his nap or medicine when he said that. LOL LOL !!!
