Pac-16 or whatever you want to call it (with Texas, Oklahoma, etc)

ACC/Big East hybrid
Mountain West (with Boise State and the remnants of the Big 12)
Four small conferences that may have to merge into two eventually:
WAC
MAC
Sun Belt
Conference USA
I haven't read all that much about the potential changes, so I have two questions for all of you:
1. Will this just be occurring in football, or will every team at each respective school be moving (for instance, will Nebraska's basketball teams play in the Big 10 as well)?
2. What year will these changes go into effect (I assume 2011, because it's a bit late to change this year's schedule)?
1. Yes, all sportsOriginally Posted by YanksFan1992

My idea for the bowl system for the first few years of the new order:
-Four power conferences are established, each with a conference championship, although a few smaller conferences remain
-The non-BCS bowl system remains the same (Cotton Bowl, Gator, etc), although obviously, the association with respective conferences are changed
-The Fiesta, Orange, Rose and Sugar Bowls each host one "Playoff" game, and which bowl hosts which game is rotated year by year:
The games will be as follows:
-The winner of each of the four power conferences qualifies for the playoffs, as does the highest ranked non-power conference team
-The lowest ranked power conference champ plays the non-power conference team for the final spot in the semi-finals in a game at one of the four BCS bowl stadiums
-Then:
Semi-finals: 1. Highest ranked team vs. Play-in game winner
.................2. Second highest ranked power conference winner vs. Third highest
Final: Winner of the two-semis
This allows for some what of a playoff system, and although it is far from perfect, I think it would be a good start.

If they're smacking us with this and all they've got is what is out there, then yeah I'm going to be ................ing pissed! There is no reason for us to get penalized to the level that Alabama did for having Boosters involved with paying their players (where as we had Agents trying to get a player away from school, which doesn't help us at all), unless there was other stuff going on.
With all that said, I expect this to be dropped to a one year bowl ban and a lesser scholarship reduction (10 over 2 or 15 over 3, instead of the 20 over 4 which I think is the case right now) after an appeal. Not ideal, but better than what the initial penalties are.

Maybe I'm missing something though.

Auburn doesn't get ................. NCAA doesn't award the BCS trophy, and theres no guarantee that we'll lose ours anyway (thats just opening a huge can of worms.) At the worst , there will be no BCS champion for 2004, the AP already stated that they wouldn't strip us of their title.

Looks like SC got the 2 year bowl ban, vacate all wins that Bush played in starting in December 2004, and a loss of 30 scholarships over 3 years. A television ban was also strongly considered and the decision not to implement one was "a very close call."

I just don't think it would be. We probably (although I have no way of knowing) have an out in the contract with SC if one of us was banned from TV. In reality though, that is probably why the penalty doesn't get used...it impacts the opponents as well as the team that is being sanctioned.Originally Posted by The Yankee Captain

The poodles legacy is tarnished forever and so is the run that USC put together which is unfortunate for college football. No way can you now consider their accomplishments under Carroll as a great run. Now we can watch that POS fail in the pros again and just hope no one gives him the chance to destroy another program. The only thing funnier than all of this and that includes Lane Kiffin's timing is laughing at the hypocritical fans who sat in their glass houses and tossed accusations about other schools while they sat smugly waiting for this to pass.![]()

High level sources in multiple conferences have told KCTV5 that Texas and Texas A&M are looking to move to the Big Ten Conference and are in talks to join the conference, while the University of Oklahoma is planning on petitioning the Southeastern Conference to become a member of its conference.
KCTV5's sources said that Texas and Texas A&M do not have to include Texas Tech or Baylor in their plans. Sources told KCTV5 that there have already been discussions about the two schools entering the Big Ten and that the agreement could be made as soon as Thursday.
Oklahoma is currently working on petitioning to enter the SEC, but must find another university to enter the league with them, sources said. TMZ Sports has reported that Oklahoma State is likely to accept a bid to move to thePac-10. Earlier Thursday, Colorado accepted an invitation to join the Pac-10.
790 the Zone in Atlanta reported Thursday afternoon that the SEC is offering invitations to Texas A&M and Virginia Tech to join the conference.
KCTV5's sources also said that some Big 12 officials are saying decisions on which deals Big 12 schools take invitations by the end of the day Thursday, although the deals may not be officially announced.
Those decisions would leave the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and the University of Missouri with Baylor, Texas Tech and Iowa State in the Big 12. The Missouri Board of Curators met Thursday and planned to meet Friday to discuss the future of Missouri sports.
After the Big XII demise, I think the Big East will be dissolved too.
Then, you have four mega conferences: the SEC, ACC, the Big Ten (Hidden 16) and the Pac-16.
Here's an article about it:

Yeah, I really don't get that. However in the case of Texas and A&M, they don't want to split up. Either way, the Big 12 is finished.Originally Posted by YanksFan1992

They are getting lots and lots of TV money over the next few years, have
the highest rated conference money wise, and those big boys probably
don't want to share any of it. I'm sure some will argue that it will make
their conference even richer, but I doubt it. Florida and Alabama have
already shown that the SEC is the cream of the crop. I expect the
other conferences besides the SEC to take in UT, aTm, and OU. OSU,
Kansas, and the other guys will be scrambling for any conference who will be kind enough to take them.
My money would be on the SEC to do nothing here.
