Spags loves Giant rejects.
If he likes them enough, maybe he can pony up for restricted FA Sinorice Moss.Originally Posted by SLURPEE

No surprise there. Giants will have to target another safety early in the draft.Originally Posted by tdel23

I wasn't sure why Wilkinson was tendered. Here's a partial reason:
Fourth-year linebacker Gerris Wilkinson is moving from the outside to middle linebacker to offer Jonathan Goff some competition

Minor news, but the preseason schedule was released. http://www.giants.com/news/headlines...story_id=43989
Giants will play the Jets on ESPN in the first preseason game.
What will be funny about that game....is that people will pay big bucks to go because its the first actual game at the stadium....yet since it is the first preseason game, all the starters will be out after the first or second offensive possession.Originally Posted by BonusCantos

People will do that, and I have to admit, I thought about taking this game for about 8.2 seconds. Not worth it, however.Originally Posted by dabomb2045

Edit: The Jets are the home team, so I couldn't go anyway. Not that I would have.
If it was me though, I would be going with little expectation of actually watching the game, much like when I attended the first Yankees/Cubs game at NYS in 2009.Originally Posted by dabomb2045

I don't have a problem with that, but a new punter is going to have to eventually be on the agenda at his age.

Giants looking at Deon Grant.

Great idea considering KP's situation....and keeps a CC Brown type player far from ever touching the field.
Schefter said on Twitter that Grant has been signed and they rescinded the tender to CC Brown. Works for me.
Wow, nice signing. I wasn't even aware you could rescind a tender.

Another year of being last in Punting. Great.
Bring back Ted Lilly!
Still cannot believe how terrible C.C. Brown was last year. Wow.
Deon Grant's a good player. With him, Rolle, and Phillips, you suddenly have a strong group of safties to back an already strong set of corners (Webster, Ross, Thomas).
Good stuff.

Which is why I hope they go OL at 15. Consider the followingOriginally Posted by TheBamTino24
-We will have a competent defensive coordinator
-Tuck will have 2 arms
-Hopefully a motivated Umenyiora
-Canty and Boley will have a full training camp
-Our 3 very good CB's
-You already mentioned Rolle, and hopefully Phillips returns.
Given all those things, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect a vast improvement in defense. Who knows, maybe someone (just one of Kehl, Wilkinson, Sintim, or Goff) is a surprise and plays better than expected.
But it is an offensive league, and we need to keep Eli on his feet; or else we won't see a repeat performance of the aerial attack we saw last year. Don't think we can rely on Seubert and McKenzie much longer. Take Mike Iupati, and suddenly our O-line can look like this.
Beatty-Iupati-O'Hara-Snee-Diehl
I wouldn't use #15 on an interior lineman, and if keeping Eli on his feet is the issue, than Iupati is far from a sure thing. He got destroyed in pass protecting at the Senior Bowl.Originally Posted by 161 and River Ave.
Edit: Some scouting reports suggest he can play RT at the next level. If that's the case, I would change my stance.

It's been assumed for so long that Reese would go defense in the first round that I'd be surprised if they didn't. Still, we won't have to wait too long to find out, as it's in less than 3 weeks.
This guy thinks the way 161 does.

15. New York Giants: Maurkice Pouncey, OL, Florida
With no linebackers on the board worthy of the pick, the Giants can still get an impact interior lineman who has the ability to end up being one of the NFL’s best.
Wow Tiki...that's some timing you've got.

Leaving this:Tiki Barber who is leaving his wife—who is eight months pregnant (with twins)—for a blonde intern half her age. Now that's a breakup.
The former Giant running back turned TV talking guy, just announced that he was separating "amicably" from his wife, Ginny, who he met in college and has been married to for 11 years. But the New York Post helpfully pointed out to everyone that Ginny is about to give birth to the couple's third and fourth child, while Tiki has already been spotted stepping out with a "model-thin" 23-year-old who used to be an intern at NBC. You may now register your contempt.

You trade down in that case. Maurkice Pouncey at #15 is an over-draft.Originally Posted by BonusCantos

what an asshat.
Chris Mortensen now seems to think that Osi is going to be traded heading into draft day, perhaps for a high 2nd round pick from the Rams. I don't know how I feel about that.
It makes sense. Kiwi can take his place, and Spags might be willing to give up a 2nd rounder for a former Pro Bowler he knows.Originally Posted by BonusCantos

I would imagine Coughlin and Reese have their reasons, but the Giants would be selling low on Osi. #33 pick wouldn't be a bad haul, however. We'll have to see how they play it I guess.Originally Posted by JfromJersey

The 33rd pick overall, for a DE that whined at the end of last season, coming off knee surgery, and is looking for a pay day?
Yes please.
I agree. I hope they would be able to use the #1 on a DE. Morgan or Pierre-Paul might not be available but Reese would not be afraid to go after Brandon Graham even though the common perception is that he is a 3-4 LB.Originally Posted by 161 and River Ave.

We got an invitation in the mail yesterday from the Giants to go to the new stadium next weekend and see our new seats, take a little tour, etc. I'm definitely considering going; if I do, I'll take plenty of pictures.

Also, remember the schedule is released tonight on NFLN at 7. Since the Yankee game is at 10, I will watch.
I hope their game in Green Bay is convenient for me to make a trip out there.
Vacchiano: First schedule leak I've seen: Redskins at #NYG in Week 13, then #NYG at Washington in Week 17, according to reports out of DC.
Good, it won't be 3 years in a row of opening with Washington.
Vacchiano: Another leak: Detroit Lions at Giants on Oct. 17, according to The Detroit News
Alright, so we know weeks 6, 13, and 17.
The Giants schedule is now up; sorry NFLN:
http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2...eason_sch.html
I'm assuming the day after Christmas isn't convenient for you, Rhody.
3 out of 4 Sunday/Monday night games are on the road. Dallas AGAIN in their stadium at night. Two straight road games to end the season. Blah. At least the bye comes at an optimal time.
Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
.325/.386/.605/.991
July 1 (182 at-bats):
.348/.417/.658/1.075

Love the bye.
Tough way to end though, yeesh.
I'd love to see the Giants smack the ................ out of Carolina after that abomination of a final game last year.
