The Giants are going to get some defensive talent in the draft. My question is if Fewell will know what to do with it.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. He's not Bill Sheridan, so I have reason to be optimistic.

That and he has a "lazy/takes plays off" reputation. Doesn't sound like a Coughlin kind of guy.

    Yeah that too.

TBH, I like Brian Price a ton for the Giants (even if he is a Bruin.)

If he is there, I would almost call it a no-brainer.

Others here disagree with me, but I think RB will be enough of a need to take one as early as 3rd or 4th round. If that were the case.......McKnight a fit?

And now back to only having to root for one New York football team.

I would be ecstatic if we were able to get Taylor Mays in the draft, but I don't see him lasting past the Seahawks.

    The mock drafts are saying...

    Rolando McClain (http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php)

    Brandon Spikes (http://newnfldraft.com/archives/1123)

    Brian Price (http://walterfootball.com/draft2010.php) and (http://www.mynfldraft.com/NFL-Mock-Draft)

    Navorro Bowman (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/3...nt-day-edition)

One thing they all agree on is that the Giants will go D. If they don't, I will go to Giants Stadium/Meadowlands Stadium/Giants-Jets Stadium/whatever with my pitchfork.

Hes made out of glass but I'd have no problem if he were our pick with a 3rd or 4th. He'd be a pretty nice weapon as a receiver out of the backfield if he can stay on the field.

I really hope McClain falls to us, but I don't think he's going to.

    Bingo.

I haven't seen a ton of McClain TBH. Does anyone know how well he plays in coverage?

I think Reese will get it right whomever he picks, as normally he drafts very well.

What are some of the other needs you'd have the Giants fill in the draft aside from some of the defensive positions?

This site actually had him fall to the Giants in a mock (with the assumption the Broncos lose Marshall):

    http://www.draftcountdown.com/sub/Mock-Draft-A.php

A terrific all-around prospect, McClain can stop the run, drop into coverage or rush the passer
Obviously, stats don't tell everything, but 14 PBU and 5 INT in 3 years seems pretty good for a MLB (virtually identical to Brandon Spikes' 4 year totals in those categories and TFL. McClain had more sacks).

Thanks. All of that sounds damn good.

Funny thing is the part of the write up on McClain that stood out most to me is that the Giants only got 4.5 Sacks from their DT's last year. I knew they were bad, but I didn't realize that they were that ................ing putrid. I think Brian Price (with the right conditioning) could out do that by himself next year if he were to be our pick.

I think the Giants should try to trade up and make a run at McClain. Pierce is so done it's not even funny. Obviously the GMen need help up front as well and in the secondary but if they can trade up only a few spots and land McClain I think that's the pick.

I would give up the 2nd rounder, and even a guy like Manningham to get McClain. He will be a great pro, and with a new Defensive scheme coming in, it's not like he will have to catch up. It would be a bold move on the part of Reese to do it, and like I said, the odds are against it.

i've seen some mock drafts out there....and alot of them have the Giants taking an offensive player (either TE or OL). I...dont...get...it.

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

Re: The Official 2010 New York Giants Thread

I trust Reese to draft the right player. Although the selection of an offensive player (especially given the needs on defense and the depth on D in the draft) would leave me scratching my head to my skull.

Evidently those people are totally clueless about the Giants needs. It's fun to read the mock drafts, but yeah.

    Yep...

Then Strahan as D-Line coach when he is tired with this media thing.
Then Toomer as Mannignhams route running coach.
Banks to coach the LB's with a view of him becoming the DC in a couple years.

Lets go Jerry and CFP, you know it makes sense!!!!

So these idiots were more concerned about being introduced second....as opposed to the game? No wonder why they lost by 27 and couldnt do jacksh*t on offense. I know the Ravens D was amazing...but the offense embarassed themselves in that game. 5 INT's for Collins?

Sounds more and more like it was a case of that team being unprepared for that game. Inexcusable.

Yep....Shaun Williams I believe, wasnt it? Between that game and Williams self-destructing in that 02 playoff game vs SF....I dont have fond memories of him. That SF playoff game might even be a bigger indictment of Fassel then the Super Bowl game.

Im not ready to give up on Osi yet. Dude had an offseason coming off a serious injury....guys sometimes just have down years. If we see it happen again in 2010--then its a trend.

But I dont wanna see the Giants give up on him, then watch him rebound somewhere else.
