Hot stove baby!!!!
While we're at it, Pujols, Mauer, Felix Hernandez, Greinke, Halladay, and Utley too.
Don't forget Zobrist. Hanley can lead off for us. Ichiro hits 9th.

One must know pain to be a hero.
Hold on guys, he actually has a point if you really don't think about it whatsoever and change the name to John Lincecum.

I hate to say it but I don't see Lincecum lasting more than 2 years before he hurts himself very badly. His mechanics are much too violent for his size.

How about we also make a pitch for Willie Mays while we are at it. I mean we do need an outfielder.

I'd never seen highlights of Lincecum until I saw some clips on MLB last night and I had to turn it off - I felt like he was going to break his leg,. arm or other limb with that motion. I was just uncomfortable watching him.......but again, experts seem to think he's actually got great mechanics. Who knows? He needs a haircut, though - he looked like a girl when he was being interviewed.Originally Posted by Zimmers' Helmet

What we should really do is exhume Walter Johnson and get a DNA sample. Then we can clone 2 or 3 of him and have an entire rotation of Walter Johnsons. Why not get the best?Originally Posted by StatenIslandYankee

I agree, he builds up a tremendous amount of torque which puts a lot of stress on a relatively small body. He's already started to have some back issues.Originally Posted by Zimmers' Helmet

How about a few Ditkas while we're at it? No team could defeat a Yankee team with a bunch of Walter Johnsons in the rotation and an outfield full of Ditkas. They'd be wasting their time.Originally Posted by Derek2HOF

Hey, since were pondering the preposterously improbable,
could Cashman offer a boatload of prospects for another elite pitcher (JJ) who's best years are probably ahead of him?
We all know the Marlins are always looking to shed salaries from their monsterous payroll...

This is yet another example of why I disagree that Cashman should give up the farm for Halladay. The free agent market is going to be flush with quality starting pitching in 2010-11.Originally Posted by ej877

He will cost a ton of prospects and dollars, and a little guy with that much pressure on his body, coming out of the NL West, is not worth it, IMO.

Maybe we can do some age-reversing voodoo on Koufax and Pedro as well. Put them back in their primes, we'd be unbeatable.Originally Posted by Derek2HOF

I keep reading that too - that his mechanics are great. I've never actually seen a slo-mo sequence or freeze frame breakdown of his delivery, but I agree. He does appear to be one degree from being a train wreck. Most of it seems to be from the shoulders, neck and head - as though it's almost a whiplash effect catching up to the rest of his body. Maybe it does work for him - I just wouldn't feel comfortable signing him to a long-term deal.Originally Posted by Rocketbooster

Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but no to Lincecum. I would prefer Cashman wait until after 2010 to sign a free agent. Josh Johnson or any of the other major free agents. The team doesn't need a major piece; it just needs some small, useful pieces that support what is already in place.

that's a little overstated... basically, when he first signed with seattle as a minor league free agent, he made a comment about how he wouldn't have liked signing with the yankees because they're too straight laced for his tastesOriginally Posted by False1
but i'm sure after playing on some terrible teams and not coming close to the playoffs all these years, his tune has changed some
Try and package Jeter for Timmy Lin..... Giants probably won't go for it, but show clips of jeter diving in the stands against the sox and mention all of the intangibles.... they are non-monetary so try to pump up their value and get the deal done.... I think Jeter and Molina could get the job done
He definitely would have to get a haircut.....unless that's the source of his strength.Originally Posted by flymick24

No, you got it all wrong. We'll get Lincecum in 8 years. We'll sign him to an 8 year deal worth $120 million more than he's worth. Get it right.
