If so, explain how happy you are.

Abso-freaking-lutely!! Just got back from the Stadium - my sister drove down from NH and we had a great time together (unfortunately my mom was hurt in a car accident last night so she couldn't go)...but otherwise it was an awesome game and win...so fun to sing NY, NY with all my fellow Yankee fans, taking pics of them and doing the Rockette kicks...awesome night!

Not sure how I'll get to sleep -- I'm grinning from ear to ear!

Apparently not that happy because I went to sleep right after the game.

i watched the win alone, in the dark, my wife and child asleep.

the best part was the comment-free replays of each key player's reaction to the win. jeter was pumped liked it was his first trip. a-rod looked like a human being. teixeira didn't grab his junk. and mariano is the coolest customer on the planet.

i smiled wide, and shed a little tear. then joined my family in sweet, sweet slumber.

Happy isn't the right word. I'm not sure I know what the right one is, but happy is a little too vanilla a word for this.

Like Jeanne, I saw the pre-game warmups and BP. I also finally got to see Monument Park. I have 152 pics and a movie to show for it.

I only got 4 hours sleep but there are 2 days to recover in time to go back for Game 1.

    GOD BLESS THE NY YANKEES.

Re: JDPNYY's Question of the day - Monday 10/26/09

I am very, very happy. I have always been a Yankees fan as long as I've followed baseball, but I've only been a fan who watched as many games as I possibly could since around 2002. Before that, I'd check the papers, Sportscenter, etc, to see if they won, and I got really into the playoffs and watched all of those games, but I didn't have quite as much of an attachment to the teams as I do now since I didn't actually watch day in and day out. Because of that, the AL Championships and WSs in the late '90s/2000, while awesome, were a little less awesome than they would have been if I'd watched all of the regular season games for those teams. It's a very satisfying feeling seeing a team that you've watched 140+ times win an AL pennant, and this is only the second time I've gotten to experience that (the other being 2003.)

In addition, I don't remember the lean years of the Yanks that well. I became a baseball fan in the early '90s, and the Yanks were about a year or two away from becoming good, so 1995-2001 was pretty early in my fandom. I kind of got "used" to winning the WS, so I don't think it seemed quite as special to me as this one would, since I didn't have as much perspective as I do now after some of the post-season struggles we've gone through since 2000. I realize that I still don't have anything like the perspective of those who followed the team closely during their REAL down years (I think some people consider 101 wins and an ALCS elimination a down year these days, which is absurd), but this one is pretty awesome.

I really hope that they pull off the WS win, because that'd be my first since I started watching the team on a day by day basis.

I've said this quite a few times, but I really started following the team in the summer of 01, so this is really only the second World Series involving the Yankees that I've experienced.

Re: JDPNYY's Question of the day - Monday 10/26/09

I was supposed to go with someone from here and it worked out for him on Sat but not for last night. My best friend Kelly was so bummed she couldn't go Sat and wished for a rain out so she could go Sunday. She got her wish.

As we were all standing in the 8th and 9th inning, I couldn't help but to grin.....everytime I looked over at Kelly, she had the same face. People were starting to realize we were only a few outs from another shot at the World Series.....I looked around at people's faces and it was just a great moment. At the end.....vintage Mo.....people went nuts. Everyone was hugging their neighbors, jumping up and down, chanting, screaming, high-fiving, fist pumps.......I hugged my best pal and it was just a great moment. One I won't forget. I'm so lucky to be part of this great team, the players, the fans......just awesome.

And I did get to see Laura at the game too! Just might bump into her again Wednesday in the Bronx.

Yes and Game 6, but I only have 1 ticket for Wednesday and I think my daughter might get violent if I tell her the other Game 6 ticket is gone. She wanted to go with me so badly last night.

    Yes, deleriously so.

I distinctly remember the Horace Clarke / Jake Gibbs years. As a child of that era, I don't take mystique and aura for granted. Every post-season win, every trip to the World Series, is as exciting and as precious as the first one.

I'll be even happier after Game Five, when the Yankees hoist that big trophy with all the flags on it.

Yeah, I was thinking out of 106 World Series, the Yankees will have been in 40 of them. Aint quite as good a percentage (.377), but I like those odds -- you can win a batting title with that.

I was at the game last night, too. I'm very, very happy about the win...but when the game was over, my sister and I yelled for about 5 seconds, then got out of there as quick as we could.

Does that make me a bad person?

You really can't consider anything before 1920 a real World Series. They played with a beanbag for a baseball.

    That still boggles the mind.

To answer the question, I'm ecstatic.

I am so happy that my dad, who made me a Yankee fan, is celebrating. He passed away 31 years ago, but I know he is with me, and the Yankees, in spirit.

I don't think it has settled in for me yet. However, I'm planning on ordering a pizza when it does.

Not as happy as I'll be after four more wins.

Are you happy that the Yankees won the AL Pennant and are going to the World Series for the 40th time?
If so, explain how happy you are.
Remember that guy JDpinstripses from AOL? Or Nick? I'd still punch either one in the face, but I'd smile while doing so.
