Will be awesome.![]()
Finally back in the Series! I can't wait to see them dismantle the Phils.
So great to be back.....I wasnt even a member here last time we were in a WS (I joined in Feb 2004)!
Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):

Quest for #28

It's nights like this that you realize how hard it is to get to the WS and how you should appreciate it. That said, if the Yankees lose, I probably won't be appreciating them that much at first, lol
Jorge and Mo's hug was ridiculously sweet and touching - that said it all.

So true. We didn't realize just how hard it was to get here back in the dynasty since it happened so often. But it really is. So damn good to be back.Originally Posted by Rocketbooster

No he isn't. It's so refreshing to see a record set and not after a playoff exit, which usually sets off records.Originally Posted by Kluivert4Ever

I got sick and tired over the past few years seeing lame teams like the Rays, White Sox, Tigers, and especially the Red Sox representing the AL in the World Series. This time we get to see our Yankees!

The moment I fell in love with baseball was the 2003 ALCS and Boone's homer to win it. At that time, the Yanks obviously made it and lost, but at the time it didn't mean a terrible amount because my love for the game and team wasn't developed.
It is now, and so I consider this my first true World Series as a fan of this team. I'm so very very excited right now, and cannot wait for Wednesday! Here's to 27!!!!
Finally! Let's Enjoy This!!

Did you follow the 2003 World Series as well? I know that the loss in that World Series in '03 stung fans (though not nearly as much as losing in the bottom of the 9th in of game 7 in 2001), but we did win the pennant in 2003, as well.Originally Posted by YanksFan1992
While world championships are very important, I think that winning a pennant is also a tremendous accomplishment. I believe that sometimes the Yankees history of success may lead to looking past how tough it is even to win a pennant in baseball.
The Yankees have won half (7) of the 14 American League pennants since 1996 ('96, '98, '99, '00, '01, '03, '09) and 4 World Series over that period with a potential 5th championship possibly looming on the horizon.
It is true that the teams from 1949 through 1964 captured many more pennants in a 15 year period. (They only lost the pennant twice in the years 1954 and 1959 during that long period.) However, that was a very different era from today. There was only one round to the playoffs and the disparity between the Yankees' talent and other teams was far greater than today. Plus free agency did not yet exist.
While I remain optimistic that this team can defeat the Phillies in the World Series, I'm proud of this team no matter what happens from here on. They've already gotten 4 monkeys off their back:
A) The Yankees got back to their winning ways of playoff series victories.
B) A-Rod has now produced in the playoffs, and would have been the ALCS MVP if not for CC's dominance in games 1 and 4 of the series.
C) They've captured their 40th pennant.
D) On a literal side, they got the rally monkey off their back. They defeated the Angels for the first time in the playoffs in 3 tries just as the Angels defeated Boston for the first time in 4 tries (1 ALCS and 3 ALDS) over the last several decades.
In 2001 and 2003 I received American League pennant shirts as gifts. I was disappointed back then because it seemed to shine a spotlight on the Yankees failure. Now 6 years later at age 29 I feel that I've gained a different perspective in recognizing how important a pennant is in baseball or a conference championship is in hockey, football, or basketball. It's something special to be thought of highly.
It's good to push for the big goal of winning a world title, but it is also important to remember how meaningful it is just be one of two teams playing in the world title game. Let us not forget this in our team's pursuit of excellence.
-Scott
I never got to really enjoy this, I was too young to be a die-hard back in the 90's and early 00's. My obsession started in 01 with the DBacks series and became a lifestyle in 03 when we came back on Pedro.

This is incredible, to finally make it back after all those years of pain. It hasn't even fully sunk in yet. I love this team.
