    Phils fans getting to cocky!

I go to college in philie but I am a Yankee fan. The Phils fans here well everyone here think their guna win the WS again. last year they acted like it was special they here through playoffs. Now the fans and whole city thinks they are a dynasty. It driving me crazy how they think they are opted to win World Series again. That is why I would love for the Yanks to crush them. But does anyone else live by Phillie or know any Phils fans?

God willing the Yankees will win the WS, but the two teams I DO NOT want to see win the WS are the Angels or Phillies. So basically what I'm saying is, if the Yankees don't make it, Go Dodgers!

Where did you get your photoshop skills from Mr. Coffee? Have you worked in that area or is it something you just learned for the fun of it?

I wish I had the patience to get good at it, I can do basic crap and make it look reasonable but that's as far as my skills go.

Of course Phillies fans are cocky. Their team plays in the NL Least and they get a regular season bye every year.

If the Mets get healthy next year, the NL East is gonna be hell with the Braves and Marlins in there also. Braves really didn't pick it up until late in the year and the Marlins, if there pitching stays consistent will be tough to beat too.

I work in an office surrounded by them. As much as the "OMG Joe Torre versus the Yankees!" story would be annoying, if the Yankees are fortunate enough to make it to the World Series, I'd rather they play the Dodgers.

Re: Phils fans getting to cocky!

They are defending WS Champions and have advanced to the NLCS. Why is it crazy for them to be confident in their team?

I'm sure Angels fans, Dodgers fans are also confident in their team.

I dont get it. I dont find Phillie fans annoying at all.

All i've heard is they're freakin horrified of their bullpen, i haven't heard one iota of "destined to win" or "dynasty".

The NL East is not awful...especially not compared the what the West and Central have done over the yrs. Looking at the past 5 or so years as a whole, the NL East has been the best division in the NL. The Central and West have both had seasons where the "winner" got in with 80-85 wins. The NL East at least has had the winner put up a solid record, and usually has had a couple other solid teams in the division...and every year from 2005-2008, the second place NL East team had a better record than the winner of one of the other divisions, (and last yr the 3rd place Marlins were actually half gm better than the 1st place Dodgers)

But back to the original post, yes Phils fans are cocky, and its even more annoying that a majority of them didn't care all that much about baseball 3 years ago. I lived in Philly for several years prior to them winning and briefly after, and while they've always had solid attendance..I'll give them that, day to day around the area its amazing how many more people suddenly decided to declare they were Phillies fans. It was always all about the Eagles. I probably saw more Phillies hats and shirts in the 3 or so months after they won, than I saw in the previous couple years combined. I guess its like that in a lot of places, when a team wins, but those kind of people are infinitely more annoying than the diehard fans. I felt the same way back when I was growing up re: Yankees fans. If I know someone is a hardcore fan than it cool its fun to talk baseball and bs, but when "Yankee fans" who could barely name anybody on the team other than Jeter and probably hadn't watched more than 5 regular season gms on the year tried to talk trash about the 2000 WS its incredibly irritating.

I don't !!! That would be horrible. There hasn't be a National league team that won consecutive WS since the Reds in 76. And the team they beat to win that World Series title was the Yankees. I don't really want another 1976 World Series on our hands. And I'm worried if the Phillies win there will be. I want the Dodgers really badly.

If the Yankees were to make it to the WS, I'd hate losing to Torre much much much more than I'd hate losing to the Phillies. Maybe it's just me though.

Philly fans are cocky and always have been . However, if they lose to the Dodgers or the AL champs don't be surprised how fast they'll turn on their beloved Phillys and start booing them next year.

I grew up outside of Philly...ALL philly fans are much worse than your normal fans, but Eagles fans are the WORST fans in the world (with the possible exception being soccer fans; i read an article about an Iraqi soccer game where one player had a breakaway and was SHOT by a fan)

I grew up about 2 hours north of Philly, 2 hours west of NYC, and I can tell you that Phillies fans in general simply hate the Yankees despite the fact that the teams do not even play in the same league. In fact I'd almost go as far as to say that a lot of their fans hate the Yankees more than they hate the Mets. It's a very bitter, jealous fanbase.

That said...I still can't see the Phils getting past the Dodgers. Between Hamels being off for a long time...and the Phils bullpen...one or both of these things will derail this train.

Re: Phils fans getting to cocky!

I also go to school in Philadelphia and the Phillies fans I know personally really aren't so bad. It's the people who don't know you and see the NY on your chest that give you a hard time or take it as an opportunity to tell you why Shane Victorino is the best defensive CF in the game.

It can be a pain, especially because, like someone said earlier, they HATE the Yankees for no other reason than we have money and we play in the same city as the Mets. And yeah, they were going crazy last year just to have made the playoffs two years in a row. Now it would be a surprise to them if they DIDN'T win. Though I don't have a problem with that. I'd be surprised if we didn't win it all this year too.
