    You're kidding.

I;m hoping it is because it is lacquered or something and so some fool doesn't try to eat it.

There are 7 houses on my cul-de-sac with a total of +/- 18 kids, none of them mine, who are way too old and don't live here anyway. They missed it growing up as we were in Brazil those years--but they had Carnaval which beats the carp out of Hallowe'en anytime. Better weather, better costumes, better music, no stinkin' candy and a LOT more fun.

When I was a kid, this was a rural area and we had to TorT by car, as it was a mile or two between houses, and you never went to people you didn't know. I hated costumes then and I still do now. Whole thing was pretty boring except for the candy. I did like KandyKorn.

I think I'm ready. Though adults dressing up can be childish, I think it fits in with my personality. Plus I might request the night off as my little cousin Marc may not have anyone to take him trick or treating. I simply cannot allow that, especially if he'd give up some of his Twix bars.

I personally think grown adults dressing up in costumes is silly for Halloween.

One old bastard evey year would hear "Trick or Treat" and he'd say "You get the trick, no candy" and shut the door. His very nice wife would run out, "Kids, kids, don't pay any attention to him" and load us up.

I went to Catholic school too and I can vouch for that. There were a ton of students that I went to school with, not necessarily in my graduating class, that had problems with drugs.........so much so, the school had to do locker checks every week. The same with smoking. A couple of my friends smoked because their older siblings smoked or because they had friends who smoked. Fortunately, 99% of the people I hung out weren't into drugs/alcohol/smoking, so I didn't face some of the same problems others did.

Actually, the last ten years I've been at a friend's house for a great Hallowe'en party. The checklist is real (except the last item), because my house is always empty. I was just trying to liven up the thread.

There's this guy who skips up and down the street by the Aderhold Learning Center (part of the GSU campus and where I have a couple classes) every afternoon and he's always wearing a costume.

Last week he was dressed in a wedding dress, tiara, veil, fairy wings and a magic wand.

I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.

i was thinking of getting two mirrors, making a sandwich board out of them somehow, and go as "you."

my other idea is to wear a blonde wig, stuff my belly with a pillow, carry a stuffed seal and go as heidi klum (without shaving off my beard of course).

    thoughts?

    BOO! Ummm... I'm gettin' there.
I've been in this old house, in this tiny town, for 13 years (on Halloween day), and have yet to have a Trick-or-Treater. I kind of like it that way, but I still buy a bit of candy (that I like) just in case.

Way to go, Muggs! Funny how many little children say "Happy Pagan Day" when they come to the door.

A couple of years ago, a 4 year-old girl who lives down the street rang the bell on Halloween. I know her parents...really good folks. She was dressed as an angel, long white dress, crown and wand. She was beaming with a smile ear to ear. She reminded me of my once young girls and how much they loved to go out on halloween...almost brought tears to my eyes. I asked her what kind of candy she liked, and she said Snickers. I had some of the fun-size bars.

Last year when she came to the door I told her that I have something special for her, and handed her a full-size Snickers bar. Now if I run into her mom and her in the grocery store she always says hello.

    A) I'm pretty sure he was joking.
    B) There's nothing sad about it even if it were true.
