    Thank you kindly.

Anyone else titillated at the thought of watching a team who's only purpose is to be the centerpiece of a real estate development? I AM!

Getting a pick for Dooling or Alston (preferably Alston, unless the FO is already set on getting out of Dooling's contract via buyout) makes the Carter trade a whole lot easier to swallow.

Re: The 2009-10 New Jersey Nets Thread

The Nets just hired John Loyer

He's been credited a lot with the development of Thaddeus Young, and everything I've heard about him points to him being a great defensive coach. Looks like a really good pick up.

I agree. Save money and get more assets instead of just letting him go at the end of the season. I'm sure the Heat will want to move salary back since they are over the tax already, so we will see if it shakes out.
    Hoping Rivera can pitch forever!

    Fire Thomson now!!!

Nets move Howard to PF, and field the best 1-5 ever, with Lee and TWill on the bench

    On a serious note:

Heat add in their first round draft pick.

Re: The 2009-10 New Jersey Nets Thread

I'm extremely excited about the upcoming season. Yi supposedly looked great in FIBA competition, and actually played with a pair. CDR and TWill have been in the gym working on their shots all season. Brook's been working on post moves, asserting himself in the post, and, to speak of his work ethic, he's been doing defensive drills to work on his pick-and-roll defense, and defensive instincts. Bill Walton is open to mentoring and teaching Brook. Can you imagine that conversation? IMO, Walton is one of the best passing big men of all time, and if he can teach Brook just that, he's got a good chance for an all-star team a few years down the road. He's just a 20/10/3/3 waiting to happen, if he learns from Walton's passing ability.

A Harris, Lee, Williams, Yi, Lopez starting line up should be good defensively, if the offensive load doesn't kill Harris , Lee, and Lopez.

Can't wait for basketball season to start.

Good to see another big NBA fan around these parts! Welcome dude..

Huge Lopez fan. Where did you hear about Walton coming in to help him.. and why? Devin Harris is on my radar for this year's fantasy team.. love his game, what a beast! And I have absolutely zero faith in the Yi stuff you posted..It's Yi for godsake hahaha.

About that Bill Walton fascination L-Frank is having right now: Did he ever think of asking Mr. Bill to come out here to work with Senor Pez personally?

"Kiki and I had talked about it, but we're not sure he can travel yet," the coach said. "But if he can, I'd love to have Bill out here with us."

We took the liberty of passing that along to Mr. Bill, who was just getting home from a full day of physical therapy, and is reasonably ambulatory just 206 days after his spinal fusion surgery.

"I am ready, willing and able to do this with Mr. Lopez, Kiki, Coach Frank, and the New Jersey Nets," said the man who is arguably the greatest center of all time, if "all time" could be condensed into just two seasons ('76-78). "Please have them contact me directly, and we'll get this done."
Harris still has below average court vision, and was a pretty bad defender last season, probably because he spent so much energy on offense. That's why I'm glad they drafted TWill- he's a born playmaker, and plays great defense.

I'm cold on Yi as well. But, honestly, he did look pretty damn good on offense, and he's bulked up significantly. He's still lost defensively, though.

If all goes according to plan, the Nets will make a 1 season stop over in Newark.

Season starts tomorrow, hoping to find a stream of it so I can watch that and the Yankee game.

    Lopez has 10/7/4 (blocks)/ 2 (assists)/ 1 (steal) in 10 minutes of play. Damn

    After three, for lopez:
27/12/4/4, and he's making Al Jefferson his bitch, defensively.

Really, really impressed with the team's last two games. They've been down to 8 men, and they've hung around in both games.

Question for Nets fans.....why do you still play at craptastic Izod Center? Why not just play your home games in Newark? That arena is beautiful. I've been there a few times for Devils games and a Bon Jovi concert.

Izod is run down--just an awful arena....easily the worst in the NBA right now. Why not bounce outta there and move to the state of the art place? Stay there permanently if the Brooklyn thing doesnt work out, or if it does at least you'll be playing somewhere nice in the mean time.

    July 1 (182 at-bats):

I think they played a few preseason games in Newark, and I vaguely recall that there were some talks of moving there for 2010-11 at least temporarily. If Brooklyn falls through, I see no way they don't go to Newark.

Why don't we just merge our two teams?

Gives us a roster of Devin Harris, Courtney Lee, Brook Lopez, Yi Jianlian, Terrence Williams, Sean Williams, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler and Jordan Hill.

Wait a minute.....that team would still really suck.

Mikhail Prokhorov is their owner. It's hard to imagine the Brooklyn plan will fail.

The Newark arena feels like an airport.. just a generic stadium that has no character. It would be no better than IZOD, other than a slightly more convenient location.

Izod is a ................hole, yes, but FCE would have to pay a large sum (10 million) to the company they're getting their lease from to move to any city besides Brooklyn and three others (I forget which). That 10 million is a lot for a team that bleeds 60 million a year.

However, The Rock and The Izod have an agreement now in place saying all sporting events to the Rock, and all other events to the Izod. So, in all likelihood, the Nets will be in The Rock next year, until Brooklyn is completed the following year. If BK falls through, they're leaving the trystate area. NJ just hasn't shown to be a viable nba market.

Not really. He can't make people give up their houses, if eminent domain falls through. Also, as the deal is presently constructed, Prokhorov's ownership is constituent on BK passing through.

I disagree completely. It's a state of the art arena that is right next to a train station. If the market was viable, I'd love to have the team there.

I don't think anything is being voted on now. It's passed all of its trials so far; the biggest hurdle remaining is eminent domain.

This is a joke right? The difference between what was the dump known as the CAA and The Rock is huge.

I'm hoping the Nets end up in Newark full time. I know I'd go to some games based on how nice the arena is and the convenience of the location. Plus the Devils could benefit from that.

Nets up 4 after 1 against the Magic. Incredible when you realize the starting line up is Alston, Hassell, Simmons, Boone, and Lopez, and we've been giving up everything to Howard to stay out of foul trouble.
