Thread: 2009 September Callups - Guesses

Brackman makes Dunn look like a control pitcher.

Seriously, how can you be 7ft 6, throw 103MPH, and walk hitters in A ball.

    The coming of The Carpenter.

Surprising but I'm really not disappointed. Alby doesn't strike out enough batters for my liking and his control can be erratic at times.

Dunn over Kroenke is a surprise to me.

I doubt Kroenke will be called up ... he's going to the AFL, so some rest might be wise.

Albe is the SWB closer so they may want him until the playoffs are over.

Kroenke is not on the 40 man roster yet.

Alby & Edwar will be up at some point. If the pen isn't taxed probably after AAA season ends. If they have 2 straight short starts by someone or think they need an extra arm for the TB-DH one or the other or both might get called sooner but really how many arms do you need in the pen normally?

Hmmm. A few surprises. First of all who's Mike Dunn and what are his numbers like? And why wasn't Shelley Duncan called up. I'm surprised they called up Edwar Ramirez. I'm not that impressed with him or Albaladejo.

I don't know a thing about Mike Dunn but I was able to find this story about him and his call up --- http://www.lasvegassun.com/news/2009...agues-yankees/

Dunn is a LHP, power FB, power slider with an alright change. He's got great swing & miss stuff but his control is poor.

Still think Edwar can stick in this pen, 10K/9 when he went back down.

His numbers last year were decimated by his performance against Anaheim.

I really hope Edwar and/or Melancon have a lights out September...so one of them can push Bruney off the playoff roster

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

I know Edwar's numbers in AAA have been really good this season but I still do not want him (or Bruney) on our postseason roster. Give me Melancon.

Girardi seems hell bent on getting Bruney straightened out. Now if he was something beforehand with an inkling of control, I'd say go for it but he's always going to walk the park. He is what he is.

Duncan, Alby, perhaps Miranda and AJax will come up when Scranton's season ends. Remember that Scranton is going to the playoffs....so they need to field a team for the next week or two...which is why only a few guys were called up today.

Ok, I figure they have 16 guys on their pitching staff now. I can just envision multiple pitching change innings - and last night's sub 3 hour game was so enjoyable.

Ah, that explains that. Other than Cervelli, I thought Albie would be the guy who'd see the most action.

I heard Girardi on the radio pre-game say there will be more call-ups later on. I guess some of that depends upon the minor league teams post season.

How does the timing of the call-ups affect postseason eligibility?

Girardi's Plan-A for postseason roster spot probably doesn't include these guys even if they are eligible. But injuries happen sometimes. It'd be nice to know who's allowed to play in the event that Plan-B or Plan-C is needed.

    Add Alby to that list.
