“I love to hit. I want to hit .300, .400, .500. I just love to hit.”

Even though rooting for specific teams to get into the playoffs over other teams always seems to bite me in the behind, I am rooting for the Rangers. Seeing the Sox miss the playoffs would be wonderful.
Yes, seeing the Sox miss the playoffs would be absolutely wonderful.
Even better would be for Texas to claim Smoltz and Smoltz pitch effective on the Red Sox dollar, helping the Rangers get the wild card muhahaa
Not really, because Texas' pitching depth would be even scarier.Originally Posted by DaSh 1s

I'm all about this. Good chance I can make it to a Yankee playoff game!

Really fallen apart when it mattered most
Young and Hamilton went down with injuries. Red Sox got red hot. Cant really blame the Rangers.Originally Posted by hed

Well, they certainly miss Young's production. But Hamilton was not doing all that great this year.Originally Posted by YankeeFaninATL

smart move there, if they think they have enough AAA depth to back up Harden if/when he goes down after 140 IP.

Baseball America ranks Rangers farm system #1, most being pitchers.

I heard Rangers are in talks to trade minor league catcher Max Ramirez to Boston for Mike Lowell
That would make some sense. I mean Youk can play third and V-mart can play first. How good is Max at catching? Is he worse then Salty or are they about the same?Originally Posted by Frankie.
Still and will always be a New England Patriots fan.

I'm not real sure to tell you the truth. I live near the Astros farm system and not the Rangers unfortunately. Looks like he played 17 games in 2008 and hit .217. That looks terrible but you can't really take anything from 46 at-bats.Originally Posted by JohnnyDamonfan
With the signing of Harden and getting Millwood's contract off there hands, it looks good for next season. Bryd declined arbitration so Lowell (if healthy) could be a good DH fill. They've got to do something with Chris Davis at third. He's garbage.

No clue on this person's fate yet.
They didn't seem in too much panic compared to what you would imagine. I was watching the game.

May be the best thing to happen to that franchise if Cuban can in to the all boys club.

Josh Hamilton is a good baseball player.
Absolutely. I do hate the guy because he's a douchebag and seems to cry about everything, but the guy is 100% about winning and certainly doesn't have any problems spending money if it means he's putting out a winning team.Originally Posted by BRNXBMRS

Cuban could be a Steinbrenner for the Rangers. He tried in basketball, but that quasi-cap is hurting him.
Wouldn't it be great to have nice NY/Texas rivalry? I think it would be great for baseball and as a local, I really think the market would support a $150M payroll (especially with that stadium) along with the rivalry against NY.
I'm a Yankees fan first, but I'm also a Ranger's fan. I'm DYING to see Cuban take the Ranger and start spending big bucks on the team.

Rangers getting better.. They traded for Cantu from the Marlins to replace Chris Davis.
I thought of Steinbrenner too, when I heard about Cuban. Probably good to have that personality in that market to draw some attentionOriginally Posted by ThePinStripes

Wow, CJ Wilson is having a phenomenal year. He's only given up 127 hits in 171 innings.........and only 8 HRs with 140 Ks.
Hughes Rules: Pleading the Fifth
In hindsight, it seems kind of nuts how long he's been in their pen.Originally Posted by Rocketbooster

Who knew, huh? You'd have thought that with their pitching issues, they would have tried him out as a starter before now.......but he's not old, so he still has plenty of future ahead of himOriginally Posted by blumj

They need him to be as good as he is (7-0, sub-2 ERA since the ASB) because Lee and Lewis are really struggling of late... that's a good staff though
Likes the Yankees.
Kinsler suspended one game..seems kind of petty to me...the game is over already...
http://sports.espn.go.com/dallas/mlb...ory?id=5572707Texas Rangers second baseman Ian Kinsler has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine by Major League Baseball for returning to the field to celebrate Nelson Cruz's walk-off home run after he had been ejected Friday.
