Yeah I love that show. He's a cool dude.

It's pretty good, and really one of the only food/travel related shows I can watch. Well this and Samantha Brown. Everything else is boring.

I've liked it when I've seen it; always wanted to read his books too ever since I saw him on the cover of one years ago (still haven't).

I think he is completely hot in the sort of Keith Richardsesque way I am so susceptible to...

Kitchen Confidential was a pretty good read. Didn't live up to the hype IMO but decent.

I enjoy the show but my wife does not so we don't watch it too often.

I'd agree. I might have liked it a bit more than you, but it wasn't up to the hype. A fun, quick, beach sort of read.

He tells a lot of good stories, but he's way too full of himself.

I did watch him a couple of weeks ago eating roast pig in the Philippines. It looked amazing, especially the skin.

However, I've been to the Philippines, and even the world's best roast pig wouldn't be reason enough for me to go back.

I was giving some thought on how to work a MacArthur joke in here but I decided it wasn't worth the effort because 5 people would have gotten it.

I thought of it too, muggs, but assumed I'd be mocked. Then again, when has that stopped me from a bad joke?

He is full of himself, but in an odd way it makes him interesting.

MM: I want his show, too. I've said that many times while watching. What a life: get paid to eat and travel on the Travel Channel's dime. Lucky bastard.

Bourdain's nuts. But that makes the show all the more enjoyable.

I thought Kitchen Confidential was overall a good read, with some chapters being positively hilarious. The follow-up, The Nasty Bits was good too.

I watch it, but have no desire to eat some of the stuff he eats no matter how much he drools over it. Same for the fat bald guy that travels around the world eating bugs and guts.

I've watched it a few times, and it is a good and entertaining show, but I find it hard to tune back in. With all the reading I do, yankee games, and primetime shows i try to keep up on (thanks Hulu), I just dont have the time to get engrossed into it.

I actually prefer the US centric Man Vs Food which also takes you on a local tour of food, but in this case for a US city. And the challenges are a lot of fun too. And it's only 30 minutes = win.

He's not even twice my age, thankyouverymuch.

He's witty and smart. I like that. Not particularly good-looking, though. You're right there.

Same here. The challenges can be a little much, but the famous, mom&pops places he takes you to is worth it. The New Orleans ep was especially good.

His obsession with pigs bamboozles me. Seeing them pulling off its skin really grossed me out. (The only part I truly like is bacon. Pepperoni is OK but I prefer turkey pepperoni.)

Honestly, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a professional chef who isn't obsessed with the pig.

I like Bourdain a lot, though I think some episodes of No Reservations could stand to focus a little bit more on food.

To me, Man vs. Food is just too yucky - I don't watch it all the time, but he doesn't seem interested in the food for any reason besides size, whereas Bourdain at least tries to understand the place where he's going.

That's why the show is popular among men and not so much among women. Most of the guys I know are at least mildly, if not wildly, intrigued with the notion of seeing how much of something they could eat. It is Man vs. Food after all. My wife, for one, thinks it's gross.

Then you haven't really watched the show. This season may be different, but in previous seasons the oversized food only appeared in the final 5 or so minutes. The remainder of the show is usually involved with the local food culture and the best venues in each given city. Watch the New Orleans or Portland eps and you'll see that right away.

Good to know - like I said, I've only caught bits and pieces and the everpresent ads showing Man in front of monster portions of various foods. I'll give it more of a try.

No problem and I can understand why people would get turned off by the promos for Man v. Food because they make it all about Adam eating 10lbs. burgers and 9 ft. subs. In reality, the first 20+ minutes are informative looks at places most of us have not but would like to visit.

It's a good show. I don't like it nearly as well as No Reservations, but it's entertaining.

It's the Travel Channel, not Food Network. The show is more about the culture of the area visited, from a culinary viewpoint. I like it just the way it is.
