Its happening because of the suits. Believe it or not they really do make you much faster (relative to swimming) than the standard Speedo. The real names will be setting the times come the 2012 Olympics. RelaxOriginally Posted by JfromJersey

The thing is, the suits in Beijing were much better than the suits in Sydney and those better than 20 years prior and so on.
Why doesnt everyone just wear the suits?

I'm biased because I'm a track guy, but IMO swimming is a farce as soon as you put on special suits of any kind.

Speedo should make a suit with the same technology.
If every uses the same technology, then nobody can moan. At the end of the day, the timing records mean nothing because they will be broke. The only thing that matters is medals, so if everyone used the same technology, that would still be in tact.

Why would Speedo make a suit that will be banned next year? And why would they allow world records to stand if they are a result of wearing a suit that the governing body of International swimming deems illegal? Every record set wearing this suit needs an asterick.

Well obviously they shouldnt do it now. I meant they should have done it before the suit was banned.
It just seems silly. In 20-30 years the suits that they will use will be far better than the suits that they use now. Thats just how things go. Everything improves with time..technology advances with time.

Great meet, I thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Phelps in the 100 fly was the best part but Pellegrini was fantastic also.
