"Yahoo! Sports is reporting that Rodney Stuckey didn't actually suffer a seizure on Friday.

He never lost consciousness or stopped breathing on the sideline, but remains in Cleveland Clinic for testing. He suffered a somewhat similar episode last season, but no irregularities were found after tests on his heart. Team officials thought Stuckey was simply dehydrated in that episode. Hopefully this one will turn up similar results. Mar. 6 - 12:41 am et"

I'm not a big basketball fan, but my son got us tickets to see the Cavs play in Philly next Friday night. I am really excited to see this amazing talent in-person.

he's amazing bro, ive seen him live 3 times. He's starting to do what Jordan did, make non basketball fans watch his games. Jordan was better though because of his freakish big hands. This allowed him take a hard foul and still have control of the ball. Another thing that seperated Jordan from the kobe's and lebron's was his ability to hang in the air still have remarkable body control.

I do regret not seeing Jordan play live.

It will be interesting at the game next Friday. I'm looking for Lebron to have a HUGE game....maybe his biggest game yet... but my son is currently interning with the 76ers!

Andre Miller taking off from the bottom of the circle in a recent game against the Nuggets.. wtf? Who knew! I love watching player reactions on the bench.. you can see a guy on the nuggets bench sit back in amazement at Andre freakin Miller throwing it down.

Random Blogger claiming Magic Johnson is the best PG of all time. Passable read. http://www.knickerblogger.net/2344/g...int-guard.html

However, the part that got me was this:

If you had to construct Magic from today’s players, you’d take Joe Johnson (minus the three point shot), give him Steve Nash’s passing and efficient scoring, add Ronnie Brewer’s steals, combine LeBron’s rebounding, and sprinkle a little of White Chocolate’s flash (from his Sacramento days). Just an unbelievable mix of attributes, and a truly unique athlete.
Start with Joe Johnson (why?) and take away his 3 point shot.
Then throw in some Ronnie Brewer steals??????? WHY? Magic Averaged almost 2 steals for his entire career and topped off at 3.4.Brewer is barely in the top 25 on a yearly basis. Weird.

Personally I prefer Stockton, but Magic Johnson is a logical choice.

Where are Oscar Robertson, Bob Cousy? I take them over Payton easily.

Brewer is averaging 2 a game per 36 for his career.

Magic and J-Kidd were the two best passing PG's I've ever seen play. I missed most of Magic's career (only caught really 1989 thru 1991)...but I've seen alot of 80s Lakers games on ESPN Classic/NBA TV Classics...the way he ran that Showtime offense was amazing. Some of the passes this guy would make on the fastbreak were just unreal.

I think Kidd could have done a great job running that Lakers offense too.

    Re: 2009-2010 NBA Thread

The thing that seperates Magic and Kidd....is Magic could play just about every position on the floor. The guy could play PG and take smaller guards down into the post and be unstoppable with that little skyhook he developed later in his career ....or he could play center and hold his own against stronger/bigger players. 42 points, 15 rebounds playing center filling in for Kareem in Game 6 1980 Finals? There ya go.

Jason Kidd didn't need to even play center to get 15 rebounds!

Kidd's weakness is scoring ability, if we want to compare him to Magic or Stockton. Stockton is the definition of pure PG, while Magic or Oscar Robertson is the definition of "doing everything" PG.

Anybody catch the Magic/Bird piece running on HBO? I've caught parts of it and it looks awesome. Having been born in 1984 I kind of missed all of that by a few years but thankfully there are DVDs and the internet around to play catch up.

Since I moved, I'm relegated to the web for my news and highlights. Been finding some good old stuff, which I've shared so far, and here comes another one..

Rodney Rogers topping Reggie Miller's 8 points in 8.9 seconds with 9 points in 9 seconds on 3 straight 3's... crazy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKoyP...layer_embedded

The Kings really did a great job in picking Tyreke Evans. When he was drafted, most of the people thought that he was an over-draft. But Evans proves the doubters wrong and is in the lead of ROY now.

Lebron youngest to 15, 000 points. Shatter's Kobe Bryant's record by more then 2 years ! Wow!

    Re: 2009-2010 NBA Thread

Kobe's developmental year to start his career held him back in that regard. Helped him in the long run because he was too skinny but individually held him back.

Wouldnt surprise me if both Kobe and Lebron reach 40000 points.

I'm hoping KG came out to contest a Bonner 3 point attempt because Matt Bonner shouldn't be able to beat anyone off the dribble!

I think Garnett has been beaten off the dribble by players far worse than Bonner. He couldn't stay in front of Oliver Miller right now.

Just read on yahoo sports Lebron James has an outside chance of having the best season in modern nba history. Jordan holds the record from the 1987-88 season with a 31.89 PER...And Lebron is right on his heels. Lebron is basically averaging 30 9 & 7, Jordan incredibly averaged 32 8 & 8 in 87-88

I'm not even sure his season will be better than David Robinson's 93-94 season, KG's 03-04 season, etc.

So PER is the only stats which can define best season now? I still wonder how can it measure defense, which is a big part in NBA games.

So if it doesn't, how can you prove that he has a better season than KG or Robinson by using PER? Unlike baseball, a player's defense in basketball is much more important and can be equal to or close to offense in value.

LeBron has the ball in his hands every possession....averages 8+ assists a game....and has to constantly create offense for his teammates cuz he is surrounded by players who lack offensive talent.

    Jesus Montero since June 1 (286 at-bats):
    .325/.386/.605/.991
    July 1 (182 at-bats):
    .348/.417/.658/1.075

If you adjust Robinson and KG's numbers per minute, they don't hold a candle to LBJ's season.

This doesn't take into defense of course.

For the record, Hollinger readily admits that it leaves out defense, other than blocks, steals, and defensive rebounds.

    Jamison and Williams are bums?

As for greatest season, its entirely subjective because the circumstances are different for each player. Magic Johnson had some seasons that wont be touched...so has Kobe, so has Shaq....Duncan. Heck even Steve Nash as had some seasons that you can only dream about.

At the end of the day, there is only one thing that matters and it is handed out in the middle of June.

As I said, player's defense in basketball is far more important than in baseball. The value I think is at least close to offense. And for players like Robinson, KG, Dream, etc. They didn't just defend their targets. The whole teams' defense were built on them. That's why I'm not sure LBJ's season is better than those players' prime seasons.

And if we want to adjust their number per minute,

Player A in one season per 36 mins stats:
    24.2 points, 13.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 2.5 steals, 3.4 blocks

Player B in one season per 36 mins stats:
    27.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.7 assists, 1.6 steals, 0.9 blocks

    Who has a better season?

You need shooting percentages and FGA, and three point attempts.

    Re: 2009-2010 NBA Thread

I wish I could find on court/off court numbers for back then, but for team defenses:

KG's 03-04 Wolves were 6th in defensive rating, however, the season previous, they were 16th in defensive rating, and the season following they were 15th.

David Robinson's 93-94 Spurs were 9th in defensive rating, and the season previous they were 10th, and the following season they were 5th.

LBJ's Cavs are 7th in defensive rating, and last year they were 3rd.

If Robinson and KG were game changing defenders, wouldn't their teams have reflected that?

The problem is that you compared player to player himself. It's hard to measure defense in baseball and it's even harder to measure it in basketball. Ask any Celtics/Spurs fans if they want to swap KG/Duncan and LBJ if we're talking about defense only. The point is that a good defense C or PF is always more valuable than a good defense SF/PG/SG. That's why there were so few SF/PG/SG defensive player of the year.

    Re: 2009-2010 NBA Thread

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/s...=ESPNHeadlines

On a night when the Denver Nuggets should have been celebrating a much-needed victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, the franchise continued to struggle with off-the-court issues when an April Fools' Day joke sparked anything but laughter.

During Denver's 109-92 victory Thursday, a former Nuggets ball boy, Laquan Johnson, got into the club's locker room, took Kenyon Martin's car keys and filled the player's Range Rover with buttered popcorn. The car had a white interior.

Martin discovered the damage as he was about to exit Denver's Pepsi Center. At the time, he had no idea who had pulled the prank. Angered, he went back to the locker room spewing profanities and threats at teammates and other members of the organization.

"That ain't no [expletive] joke," Martin said. "I'm going to find out who did it ... put my [expletive] hands on one of y'all. I'm going to put my hands on whoever did it. You better believe that. It's [expletive] personal. You better believe it."

Martin, who has missed 15 games with a torn patella tendon in his left knee, threatened to boycott the postseason if he did not find out who was responsible.

"How 'bout if I don't play in the playoffs until somebody tells me who did it," Martin said more than once.

How about the Nuggets void your contract for refusing to play?

Absolutely incredible game between the Jazz and Thunder. However, at the very end, Durant got absolutely mugged, and wasn't able to get a good shot off. I guess you know what they say, karma's a female dog.
