A-Rod 3B
Cano 2B

I'm glad Joe didn't opt for Berroa, I was actually worried about it.

I blame Girardi
The coming of The Carpenter.
“I love to hit. I want to hit .300, .400, .500. I just love to hit.”
At least Girardi hasn't lost his "fire" like Pinella:
Lou Piniella bristled at the suggestion he has lost the fire that has been so much a part of his persona throughout his long and successful baseball career. "What do I need to show fire for?" Piniella said. "I'm not a dragon."![]()
The Berroa situation still confuses me...one of the most perplexing of the Cashman Era.
Let's see Shelley.

Would of liked to see Cervelli at C and Posada at DH. Give Mats a rest, he looked awful last night.
Calmer than you are.

Posada and Wang have also worked successfully with each other for a number of years, and perhaps Joe figures it's best to give Wang the more familiar face.

You would like to see Posada in Guantanamo. With Jeter out, and who knows what you're going to get out of Wang, the Yanks can't afford to give away any offense.Originally Posted by JavyVazquezIsSick

Looking like he'll get 9 days rest- in FLA, ATL, and Shea. Really doubt Joe will have him play in the outfieldOriginally Posted by JavyVazquezIsSick

We won't see Posada either in all 9 games.
This is the closest it gets to house money night. Their best starter versus our worst. We should win this series but the odds are against us tonight.

Nah. Not with their bullpen. If it's within a few runs late, they are in huge trouble. I would say this is the closest they could get to the Yanks, but in Yankee Stadium the Yanks are still pretty good favorites to win tonight.Originally Posted by Mark19

Let me add too. in some games without Posada the the lineup looks pretty weak on paper. You will see Cervelli and the pitcher next. And in some cases Gardner Cervelli Pitcher.

Lannan is actually a talented young lefty that the Yankees have never seen. Our starter hasn't survived 4 innings and has little idea where the ball is going.Originally Posted by Yankee Tripper
I could see Wang giving up 6-7 runs, Lannan giving up 2-3 and us coming up just short against their terrible bullpen.
We can win, we should win, but it certainly won't be easy

I think Wang will rise up tonight.
I really do.
Lannan is also very bad against lefties (.968 OPS, .588 SLG). With Damon, Swisher, Tex, Cano, and Posada, we should do plenty of damage. I hope our switch hitters seen his splits and bat lefty, he's actually very hard on righties.Originally Posted by Mark19

I think I've drank myself into wanting to watch this game at a bar. There's a lot of Nats fans around these parts, it could be a lot of fun.

He's not starting all 9 games. Maybe I should have said STARTING. Of course he'll be available to pinch hit.Originally Posted by themgmt
He'll get a day off on this road trip. But when he won't start the games he's off the lineup will be pretty weak at the bottom with the pitcher hitting.

They should rest Jorge on days CC pitches. I've heard he's a terrific hitting pitcher and I'm looking forward to see if the stories are true.Originally Posted by SLURPEE

The pitcher will also be hitting for the opposition. Unless we are facing Micah Owings on the road trip I'm not that concerned. On days when Jorge is off Joe will have Matusi & Posda available to pinch hit. If Nady replaces Berroa sometime on thetrip, that'd be 3 pretty good PH options for the pitcher's spot.Originally Posted by SLURPEE

maybe we can put in Wang to pinch-run for Jorge if he gets on base in NL parks

I think with our pitchers set to bat in 9 straight games we may see the first intentional strike out called from the bench by Girardi.Originally Posted by Spiker101

With the amount of money we have invested in this rotation plus Jobas future. I would tell them to just stand in the batters box and then tell the opposing pitcher to just toss 3 strikes and move on. Obviously Im exagerating but nonetheless Im sure these next 9 games in NL parks will be keeping Joe and Cashman up at night.Originally Posted by roblyo33

Seems like people have underestimated Lannan
He is the closest thing the Nats have to a pitcher any other team would want
