How great would it be, after the $400 million offseason, if Strasburg said he wanted $20 million and he dropped to the Yankees? I realize there is 0% chance of this happening, but the entertainment value would be great.

Purke , Trout or Skaggs for me in that order. If Tate falls I hope we pass. I fear the 2 star guy unless he gives up the other sport 100%

He could ,but What scares me is our track record with 2 sports guys has been pretty bad. Yea, Jackson is doing well but Henson,Harris, Morenz and Henry have me running scared.Tates dad played College football and in the NFL so it really scares me even more. JMO..I would love Purke or even Skaggs but both are projected to be gone..

i think you are making a mountain out of a mole hill with the 2 sport stuff, more coincidence than anything. there are tons of players who bust for reasons other than playing 2 sports. most of those players just proved to be bad at baseball

Purke or Tate. Both are top 15 talents if not higher who will fall due to signability concerns.
This, I think I give the nod to Purke though. Then again if its anything like all of our recent drafts with the exception of last year(and we all know how that turned out), chances are we take none of these guys that we are talking about. Not in the first round, some of them tend to be pick ups we get in the later rounds.

At 29 I like Bailey, Purke, and Trout. I'm leery of Tate.
If you ever see Bailey doing the pop drills your jaw will drop (he is lightening quick - measured at 1.73 secs) Those pop #s are similar to Thurman, Bench, Rodriquez, Yadieer Molina, etc. And Bailey is a legitmate power/avg prospect. He is plus or plus/plus on four of the five big-tools (with running being below average). Bailey has a chance to affect games in multiple ways when and if he makes it to the majors.
The only drawback is the TJ surgery, but it was done by Andrews and the Yankees are confident he will make a full recovery.
If the Yankees are truly going to sign Gary Sanchez, then it is unlikely they will draft Luke Bailey.

middle rounds id take overslot shots on renfroe or any of the above guys if they are miraculously still there. i would even consider tate although im disliking him the more i hear about him and would almost just rather not use the pick on him instead of another prospect. with the price tag and questions i just think its probably not worth it, especially with the yanks ability to find decent prospects in the middle rounds that weren't really scouted by other teams (whether they end up panning out or not).
No way is heathcott still available at 76. Maybe Bailey, but catchers are always overdrafted.
The question is the overslot issue. What is Heathcott expecting? We know he is likely to ask for more than slot, if he doesn't get picked early on round one. My guess is that is looking for about 2 million, and more than likely he wouldn't last to 76. If the Yankees are hot on him, they wll have to take him at 29.BTW, Heathcott really is intriguing because he really came back quick from the ACL surgery and was/is productive in his senior year. Up till this year his pitching was probably his ticket to the majors, but now after this year he is a 5-tool guy. How many everyday players are legitimate 5-tool guys?
The kid has a cannon for an arm, he runs better than average, he has a quick bat with consistent contact, and finally this year he is showing real power - this power is also being demonstrated with wooden bats in front of scouts -(and he can play all three OF positions with aplomb due to his great instincts and overall athleticism).
If the Yankees don't take Bailey, Purke or Trout, Heathcott seems like he'd be a hell of a good choice.

Heathcott has other issues besides his asking price, which earlier in the spring was around $1 million.

He does say in the Meyer interview that he likes football because he gets to hit people. He might have a little Billy Martin in him and that isn't all bad.

So, most certainly if the Yankees have high grades on both Bailey and Heathcott when they pick, they would take two guys like that.

I'm hoping for Green, we need some impact positional talent in our system and if Green drops, I'd want him.
His cutter is not a human pitch, even he says he does not know why it moves like it does, says "God does it." I believe him.
