MLB Reviewing Jenks' Purpose Pitch...

• Jenks admits to throwing a purpose pitch behind Kinsler with 2 outs in the 9th.
• He admits it's because Millwood hit Getz and Quentin earlier in the game.
• MLB is now reviewing it.

I hope they don't suspend him - he didn't hit him and if the article is to believed, it wasn't as if it was dangerous by going high. It was low and behind him. Did anyone see it?

Some quotes from Jenks:

"No, I meant to. To send a message," Jenks said, according to the newspaper. "Basically I was saying, 'I'm sick of seeing our guys get hit and hurt and almost get taken out of the game.' I threw it with intention."

Jenks added his intent wasn't to hit Kinsler.

"I'm not going to put a guy on in that situation," he said, according to the Tribune. "I was not going to hit him. I made my point with that pitch and it came across the way I wanted it to.

"I'm not going to go dirty. I was going to keep it low and behind him."

For the record, Ozzie didn't think the pitches from Millwood were intentional (at least that's what he claims.).

I don't think he should, and I also don't think he will. Why?

1. He threw a safe pitch that did not hit the batter. It was low (butt level) and didn't seem scary.

2. If MLB does suspend, they set a horrible precedent (I know, won't be the first time) for suspension when someone purposefully MISSES the batter. He could have throw a purpose pitch that was high and way inside which would have been way, way more dangerous. The pitch he threw - even if the batter backed into it - looked extremely unlikely to cause injury.

No, the whole point is that he wasn't going to put someone on base - hence why he purposefully missed him.

Probably because his GM was pretty much encouraging the players to do something. It was not exactly smart of Jenks to say anything, but Williams should share the blame.

Hahaha... I was watching that game and Hawk made a huge fuss over the ump issuing warnings, called him several names, and generally acted like a big baby about the whole thing. He kept reinforcing that it was a 1-run game and that it didn't make much sense to put Kinsler, who can run, on base for free. The best part is that he probably doesn't even feel like an idiot now that the truth is out.

Throwing at people is a part of baseball. He threw it behind his lower back...no real possibility of danger there. I applaud Jenks, honestly. If Watson suspends him, MLB will have forgotten what baseball is about.

Pretty much how I figured it would turn out. Selig (Watson) has no spine, and this wasn't that big a deal anyway. The only problem is he openly admitted to throwing at a guy, which is taboo I suppose.
