    My options re: Manny

Couldn't find the appropriate thread to ask this question in, so I figured I'd just start a new thread.

Commish: What the hell can I do about Manny?

Do I have to drop him or is there a special list on which he gets placed? Seems unfair for me to have to drop him and then someone else gets to pick him up, or give him a long-term contract, but the lack of bench spots puts me in this tough position. What are the rules regarding this?

Since I have waiver wire priority I say you need to drop him.

I would guess you'd probably have to drop someone from your bench if you're going to pick someone else up.

The rule we've had since Day 1 of this league is:
12.8. A suspended player may not be placed on the reserve list. If a player is suspended by Major League Baseball for seven or more days, he may be waived, but not reserved.

so the choices are, spend the next 7 weeks with a dead spot in your lineup, or release him and hope nobody else picks him up.

If he's dropped, then the game becomes how soon does someone pick him up? How many days of a dead spot is his production after returning worth?

    I love it.

This going to be very interesting. Finger on the add button every morning if GDN drops him...

    And he's keepable...hmmm.

Right, that's the question. Is it worth 7 weeks of, not just zero production, but zero production from a cornerstone spot?

If you drop him, with how many days left in the suspension does the opportunity cost of a dead roster spot get trumped by the potential return in production when he gets back?

    14 days? 10 days? a week?
