Kelly Coffman-Lee wanted to tell the world about her love of tofu by picking the letters for her car's license plate.

But her tofu fondness ran into a snafu at the Division of Motor Vehicles, which blocked her plan because they thought the combination of letters could be interpreted as profane. Her suggestion for the plate on her Suzuki: "ILVTOFU."

Department of Revenue spokesman Mark Couch said the letters could be misinterpreted.

Coffman-Lee, 38, said tofu is a staple of her family's diet because they are vegan and that the DMV misinterpreted her message.

I'm not so sure that she's serious about the tofu thing either, and I think custom license plates, as a general rule, are dumb, but who exactly is going to be misinterpreting this? Are 10 year olds going to be making the connection? I think that's why curse words and stuff aren't allowed on license plates for the most part, so that kids don't see that kind of stuff, and I doubt a 10 year old is going to think twice about it. If it's 40 year olds who are getting offended by a plate like this, then they should consider chilling out. I'm not going to vote either way because I really, really don't care what happens in this case.
