Apparently the Bears first rounder is being traded to Denver, so perhaps YanksForLife could be given the Chargers instead?

That sounds like a plan I was just coming here to ask about that. And then let's get this thing started.

Clive and the St. Louis Rams are on the clock.

I'll do analysis for all of these picks as we get a few going. Nothing surprising with the first pick. He seems like he could be a blue chipper. The Lions saw what Matt Ryan did for the Falcons and hope that Stafford does the same for them.

Yeah but to be fair I didn't send him a PM until yesterday afternoon/evening. Being engaged makes it tough for me to get on here often. That being said if no pick is in tonight we'll have to pick for him.

Since I have not heard from Clive, all active people in this draft can vote on who you think St. Louis will pick. First player to get 3 votes is picked for St. Louis.

    My pick-Jason Smith OT Baylor

Robiskie would have been a better pick IMO.

By the way, I'll be flying across the country tomorrow, so I won't have internet access. The draft might not get to the 9th/10th picks, but if it does I'll have to make the picks tomorrow evening, so I apologize in advance.

With the 9th pick, the Green Bay Packers select, Malcolm Jenkins, CB from Ohio State.

The Packers need a cornerback, and with Jenkins being one of the best players available, this was an easy choice.

    Re: NFL Mock Draft 2009

With the 10th pick, the San Francisco 49ers select, QB Mark Sanchez, from the University of Southern California.

The 49ers were tempted to select Andre Smith, but he has too many question marks, so they went with the California boy. Sanchez instantly becomes the best QB on the Niners roster, and coupled with Frank Gore and Vernon Davis, the 49ers will become a dangerous offensive team. Also, with Damon Huard in the fold, Sanchez can be the backup until he is ready.

    Re: NFL Mock Draft 2009

With the 11th overall pick, the Buffalo Bills select Everette Brown, DE Florida State.

The Bills have many options at 11. If they trade Jason Peters, an OL could be taken here. Pettigrew is also an option but they would trade down to select him.

Everette Brown gives the Bills a DE that can come off the edge with speed. Last year they had 24 sacks and no production from the DE position. This pick helps improve their defense.

    Re: NFL Mock Draft 2009

Don't forget that you can PM someone who's pick is up or coming up and attempt a trade. I didn't want to delay the draft but I could see a team that wants Freeman trading up to get him after the top 2 QBs are taken. Just remember you have this option.

    Re: NFL Mock Draft 2009

With the 12th pick, the Denver Broncos select:

    AARON MAYBIN, DE, PENN STATE

The Broncos had been looking at Everette Brown, but after he was snatched up by the Bills they turned to Maybin for an impact pass rusher.

    Re: NFL Mock Draft 2009

Sorry for the delay, was in class all night and then had database issues getting in.

Anyway, the Skins would like to make a splash with a sexy pick. I had targeted Sanchez, as that would make little sense, but the Niners ruined that. Instead we'll actually go with a position of need, but with a pick that could be a disaster nonetheless.

With the 13th pick in the NFL Draft, the Washington Redskins select:

    Andre Smith, OT Alabama

The other pic I was thinking of was much worse.

With the 14th pick of the 2009 NFL Draft, the New Orleans Saints select:

Chris "Beanie" Wells, RB, Ohio State

I had originally targeted Malcolm Jenkins with the pick, but since he's off the board, I decided to go with his former teammate, Beanie, despite the Saints' various needs on defense. He'll be a perfect complement to the athletic and speedy Reggie Bush. Beanie will be able to step right in and fulfill the same role as Deuce McAllister did in the past.
