then Calhoun arrived after a success stint at NorthEastern...by then i'm in FL. but lo and behold he has them winning the NIT championship. then they're in the NCAA's...and he kept ascending them through the 90s to that fateful night v Duke in '99...and of course '04.

all the while the guy's grabbed premium talent (his specialty tends to be wingmen) and turning them out to the pros...

currently the NBA's rosters contain more huskies than any other program...

i mean, i'm not saying that to show you up - and in fact, i'm sure you may already know that...just saying calhoun gets who he wants to get, at least as much as any other program not on tobacco road.

when you have michael jordan and coach K's AMEX commercials on during the final four, you have pull that no other institution has.

after all that, i'm not all that sure i said anything that added value...haha...but it's fun to type it.

it's unreal where this program has come from.

and now i'm a USF alum that watches his lambs led to slaughter once a season vs the mighty Huskies.

Oh, by no means am i complaining about the players we do get (well, most of them). Regardless of what i said earlier, i think calhoun still does a really good job at turning who he does recruit into a great player. I'm just concerned about what will happen after he leaves.

Especially since the state of CT doesn't want to put in the funding for a new basketball training facility, ours is out of date and the football complex shows how successful something like that is at bringing in prospects.

As I've said repeatedly, if Washington had won this tournament would have been right up there with the best of them for me. But because they didn't, and there are no real Cinderella's to follow, it's not all that interesting to me. Of course I'll be watching the remaining games and I really do hope they'll all be great, but, I don't know.

I don't really think the tournament's been that bad, but the mix of Washington losing, very few upsets and horrid officiating has shed a lot of negative light on it in my opinion.

Only in college basketball is it a negative when the top seeds win.

In the NBA, could you imagine what would happen if a #6 and #8 seed got into the NBA Finals? It would be a joke. But in the NCAA, a #6 and #8 seeds in the National Championship game would be amazing.

People keep bringing up George Mason. Yes very nice story. Then they showed up to their Final Four game against Florida....and the game was over 5 minutes into it...they got ran out of the building. Would people have rather seen a UConn-Florida semifinal? I know I would have. The deeper the tournament gets, the higher quality of games you want to see.

Ahem..the number 1 team in the country defeated LSU..after an 11-0 run in the last 4 minutes and a heroic performance by an injured point guard who is still faster on one foot then most of the league..

    Hey I'm a UNC fan!

Louisville was treated as the highest #1 seed in the tournament by the committee. Thats the only point I was making.

    Last year's Final Four:

    Kansas 84-UNC 66
    Memphis 78-UCLA 63

Just cuz you had one bad Final Four doesnt mean you shouldnt want the best teams there. The better teams you have, the odds of better games are much higher then if you have a UNC playing some miracle #11 seed.

I guess you're right, and I'm certainly hoping the games will be great, but I'm just all that sure (the only Sweet 16 games I'm certain will be close are Michigan State-Kansas and Syracuse-Oklahoma).

What about the Championship game between Memphis and Kansas that was a classic? Kansas comes back from nearly 10 down to tie it, hitting a 3-pointer in the closing seconds, then goes on to win in overtime. It doesn't get more dramatic than that.

Also, UNC was down by almost 30, but they came back to get the deficit to within 4. Then they ran out of gas. But the game got intense when UNC was making their comeback.

Finally, I didn't expect Memphis to dominate UCLA that much. That was unexpected to me.

I thought that last year was a great Final Four.

may be in it now. apparently uconn broke some rules in their recruitment of nate miles, who has been nothing but a headache for the program.

and the timing of this article could not have been any worse.

Cunningham will be a beast in this game.
If Nova wins I'll be the first to congratulate them. That being said, I'm surprised to see so many people say that Duke is going to get smoked. I see it being a close game.
