I CAN'T HIT, DAMMIT! Striking out like 10 times a game. What the hell!
Question about hitting. Do you use the left stick in the direction the pitch is? I know thats supposed to induce fly balls, grounders, going the other way, pulling the ball etc, But if you push up on a low ball will you still try to hit a fly?
I guess im asking if moving the stick in the direction of the pitch helps contact, or if it only induces the specific hit?

I read a couple of reviews of MLB 2K9 for the 360, and although they say that the graphics are amazing, the gameplay is very buggy and glitchy. Not good.
When EA Sports lost their MLB license, it was a bad day for baseball video gamers. This is why I now play Out of the Park Baseball. It's a great game if you like statistics and historical simulations. And they constantly come out with patches to fix the bugs.

i think pulling and going the other way is mostly done with timing, however pulling down on the stick will cause more ground balls while up on the stick should cause more fly balls

With all the poor reviews for 2K9, I figured it would be better to save the cash and just start fresh in Show 08 again. I did a fantasy draft with the Royals, I figured I'd share. With pick #22, I took Chase Utley in the first round.
Rotation: Lincecum/Hughes/Jurrjens/Glavine/Francis
In the bullpen: Marmol/Brian Wilson
Plus, in AAA: Pelfrey/Garza/Hocheaver
Key players: Josh Hamilton/Utley/Dunn/Morneau/Russel Martin/BJ Upton/Eric Chavez
I'm 1-0. I was trailing 3-2 going into the top of the ninth, when I hit a 2 run homer in a big rally against Papelbon and the Tigers and ended up winning 6-3.
If they ask who was our star, give them twenty five names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.

Joe DiMaggio or Mickey Mantle weren't available? If they are, I'd rather have them on the team than Dave Winfield...Originally Posted by bigjf

so i played another game last night against the rays and matt garza. i lost the game 2-1 after a couple bonehead running errors on my part. but today, im playing against the mets and johan, i can get hits, i just cant get hits when guys are on base. maybe this game is just a little too realistic lol
I'll be on for quite a few hours this afternoon if anyone wants to play. I dont have a mic yet though and I'm not very good![]()

I made the most amazing play the other day. Line drive to right, caught by Swisher at the RF wall, he crashes into the wall and falls down. Runner on first tags up, and Swisher gets up and throws him out.
I also made a "Dustpan!" chant for Dustin Pedroia.

the right analog is meant to influence where you want the ball headed. before the pitcher releases the ball, tap it towards the direction you want the ball headed (ie right for right field). it'll rumble to "confirm" the selection. then use the left analog to control where you want your swing (if you press up you'll swing high). and you know about the regular and power swingsOriginally Posted by TheDynasty26

Yeah, they weren't available unfortunately. Neither is Whitey. Of course, with all the Yankees legends in history you could fill up multiple 40-man rosters, but they had to take some space to put in legends from other teams, like Jackie and Gwynn and Morgan, etc.Originally Posted by YankeesAce4Life
which is stupid I think because lets say I want to hit the other way but once the pitch is released I see its coming inside. I want to be able to adjust quick enough to pull the ball and with the right analog once the pitch is released you can't change it.Originally Posted by those yanks

Where is everyone getting these Legends players? Are they something you have to unlock?

theyre not on the show, which i found kinda odd but i guess since rosters werent set in time, that would kinda make senseOriginally Posted by djeter220
They're unlocked already. You can access them from the main menu under Roster Control, choose your team and then choose Player Movement, then use R1/L1 until you see the Free Agents. They're on there.Originally Posted by DEADSOX

little bit of luck, little bit of skill, and a little bit of trickery in that 2-0 win epy.
He was no hitting me with Web into the 7th or 8th when i lay down a bunt with Damon to break it up and proceed to bring him in to break the 0-0 tie. I had Wanger goin, and he was getting hit but getting out of trouble. We both finished the game with 6 hits.
Bottom 9, i leave Wang in and get 1 out, he gets 2 on, i go to Mo. I hit Chad Tracey with a cutter up and in to load em up, but get out of the jam with a K to end it.
I got a little lucky though on that one tag-up in the 5th or 6th. Overall it was a decent game.
Does everyone play without pitch guessing?

It wasn't a no hitter.. it was a Perfect game going on!!!!!!!!!!!!! sigh.... it was the beginning of the 7th. Damon got on with a bunt single. Jeter hit into a double play in the next pitch. Tex grounded to the SS but my great SS booted the ball and you got on. Arod hit a single and matsui hit another single to drive in Tex. 0-1 you . It should of been 0-0.
That tag up happened in the bottom of the 6th. I thought I left when you caught the ball.
Then the 9th you got an insurance run to make it too 2-0.
I could always get runners on but I couldn't bring them around. Next time I am going to use an more offense team.
But I took my frustration out on yankswin23![]()
just curious, is it possible to tie both threads together, the one in OTL and this one? Its kinda sucks to have to go to one thread and to another one to see what ever one has to says about "the show". Just an suggestion![]()

So does anyone have any suggestions or know of a comprehensive tutorial on creating a player for RTTS and how to go about leveling them up. I usually make pitchers...so if you have any suggestions about what attributes are most important to level up, how many pitches you should use, when you should level up certain attributes...that would be cool. I'm just wondering if the way I'm going about grooming my pitcher is fine. I'm pitching really well, but just wondering if certain attributes will ever matter....such as bunting (AL) and fielding.

still no word whether mlb 2009 the show will be.

You've got nothing to believe in but believing in yourself.
Had been planning a PS3 purchase and the reviews of this game pushed me over the top. (not to mention that I bought Guitar Hero III @ the Circuit City Sale for $25[game & guitar])
I am loving the game overall. I'm still to agressive @ the plate... need to take some pitches.
I started my RTTS and am doing pretty well in AA.

When I first got the game, I was the Robbie Cano of The Show. I never met a pitch I didn't like. I didn't strike out that much but I must have played 10 games before I drew my first walk. It just takes some getting used to. I'm getting about 1-2 walks per game now depending on who is pitching.Originally Posted by mentalgidget

If anyone of you have a flash drive you can download player music (Mo coming in to Enter Sandman is fantastic) plus you'll get to hear Bob Sheppard announcing the Yanks at home games. I used the one that says Players and team extras pack.

I used to play the series on the PS2, dating back to '07. I haven't seen this year's edition, but I'm guessing the core gameplay is still as good as it has been. Plus it's like $20 less, so you might as well go for it if you don't have a PS3.Originally Posted by Evil Empire

I have the PSP version. It's a lot better than last years, but there are some fielding quirks in RTTS. Sometimes your fielder just stops moving or doesn't start moving in the field even if you're moving the analog stick, my friend is having the same issue. Although, I do like the option where you can turn fielding or baserunning off (or lower occurrences) during that mode. I prefer to either just pitch or hit, and it gets you through the season faster. Overall, though, it's still a really good game.Originally Posted by Evil Empire
The main issue i have with the game are the ratings of players, at least in my RTTS game. Pedroia is the highest rated player in my game (his red "overall" bar is filled). Also Ellsbury is something like the 5th highest rated player on the Sox, but he's also rated higher than everyone on Yanks but ARod or Tex.I don't feel like restarting my RTTS career just to "fix" this issue.
I think MLB2k9 is available for the PC this year. I'm sure that after they figure out how to hack and customize it, it could become a very good option. I'd keep my eye on it for now.

Seeing Pedroia's hick face every time I start the game is the ONLY thing that keeps me from playing 24/7. Therefore, I'm somewhat thankful, for my sanity, that he's on the cover.Originally Posted by NewEraYanks2527

All we need now is the ability to add more walkup music, because a player usually uses more than one song per game, pre-game/starter warmup music, post-game win music ("New York, New York" of course!), and if they want to really take it to the next level, they can let us pick music to play for in between each half inning (as much as I hate Cotton Eye Joe and YMCA, they would have to find their way into the game!)Originally Posted by NYYIronHorse
