Son of Yankees VP trafficked steroids in 2002

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseba...,4776381.story
The son of a Yankees senior vice president pleaded guilty to attempted steroid distribution charges in 2002 as part of a federal investigation into a date-rape drug, according to public records from Tampa police and Hillsborough County Court.

Felix M. Lopez III, the son of George Steinbrenner's son-in-law Felix M. Lopez Jr., was charged with trafficking illegal steroids in 2002, a first-degree felony that was punishable by up to life in prison. Lopez III, 30, cut a plea deal in which he received three years of probation for pleading guilty to possession with intent, which is a second-degree felony, according to Hillsborough County Court records.
Just what we need, another steroids story...

Edited to add: Although the charges date back to 2002, this is appearing on Newsday's site today.

A member of the Steinbrenner family is asked not to show up to Yankees events because of his involvement with steroids.... and you think that's a non event (or a not event)?

Your father is an executive for the richest franchise in sports probably making millions of dollars and you feel you have to be a drug dealer...smart kid.

Because he's a Red Sox troll pretending to be a Yankee fan. (Check the "read all posts" function.)

Just for clarification, Lopez III (the dealer) is NOT George Steinbrenner's grandson.
Lopez Jr. was not with the Yankees in 2002. He married Steinbrenner's daughter, Jessica, in 2004 and was a senior vice president beginning the next baseball season.

That's quick turnaround for being a VP. Perhaps I need to marry a Steinbrenner

If some here have an issue with a user report their post to a moderator if it violates the community standards. Whether this user is a troll or not, fact is that a member of the family/son of a Yankees VP not being able to be involved with the team because he's a convicted drug dealer is news. Those who believe that it's not worthy of discussion or being reported in the media can simply opt not to post in this thread.

No problem here - but's let's put this story in the proper context. Specifically, this crime was commited by his adult son before the father had any role with the Yankees or the Steinbrenner familiy. Why is this post in a Yankee forum? I really don't see the relevance why the post was made in a Yankee forum except for the fact the the Slimeday (aka Newsday) reported it as "Yankee news".
