The Official 2009 Buffalo Bills Thread

    Dear Ralph Wilson,

Owners who care fire bad coaches. Owners who care fire good, very good, or great coaches because they feel someone different would be good for their franchise. So while coaches like Mangini (good), Shanahan (very good to great), Gruden (very good) are getting canned for not doing well enough we extend a coach who had has one winning season in the NFL. We have been 21-27 in the last 3 years. While you are too cheap to hire a Shanahan, Gruden, or Cowher type, please take a chance on an assistant. Mularkey turned out to be a bad choice but Jauron is probably as bad if not worse. Your days are existing are limited as you are 90. If you even want to see Buffalo in the playoffs before you die remove the coach.

    Love,

    The Man Known As Mecca

Below are some excerpts from Marshawn Lynch's interview with Sporting News. Bolded are items I found hilarious.

What’s on my iPod: Messy Marv, The Jacka, Lil Webbie, Lil’ Boosie, Clyde Clarkson, Hustler, J Stylin, Keak The Sneak and da Farmboyz, Killa Tank, Lee Majors, Mistah F.A.B., 2Pac, Sleepy D.

On my office walls: A mural of me and everything important in my life that my cousin painted. It includes my mama, penguins, the skyline of Oakland, “Family First,” footballs, and my goddaughter.

Talent I’d most like to have: Mackin’. Straight mackin’. No, I’d like to have the talent of a magician, so I could hypnotize all of the ladies!

Favorite meal: Fried chicken, spaghetti, and red Kool-Aid — unless my cousin made the blue

My bucket list: I don’t really think about that too often but I would like to go to Africa and see what’s up over there. Also, the Philippines and Asia. Go to Fiji and see if the water is really like that. And also, I am going to go down in history for something. I’m not sure yet, but it will be something good.

    That's awesome.

I wish the Bills luck in 2009. I had fun the 2 trips I made up there and the city really needs the Bills. I hate the idea of them moving to Toronto.

    How are Ralph Wilson's kids?

    Some Bills news.

Fred Taylor will be visiting the Bills and the Pats this week. That doesn't mean he is signing with either but these are the only two teams he is meeting with this week.

Kelley Washington is going to meet with the Bills and the Jets.

Jabari Greer will most likely not resign with Buffalo

As much as I'd love to see the Bills pick up Haynesworth or make a run at Boldin; I honestly can't see any top FA's moving north to Buffalo. It just seems like the Bills are positioning themselves for a move to Toronto.

They just don't like throwing money out to hire top talent at the coaching or player level.

As much as I would hate to have T.O. disgrace the Bills uniform it would at least show a willingness to try and improve.

Fitzpatrick is an alright pickup... we needed a backup. I like the Hangartner pickup, heard a lot of good about him from Panther fans who are sad to see him go. He's only 26 and should be better at Center than what we've had recently.

I wanted a veteran who could help Edwards more. Someone like a Gus Frerotte. I do like the Hangartner pickup too.

In more recent news, Coles may be coming to Buffalo since Miami isn't showing much interest. I would be happy for that as I think that is what Lee Evans needs.

Also, Brian Waters wants out of KC and Buffalo is interested in him. I would LOVE to get him. He just turned 32 and is still excellent.

Owens is always a "good guy" during his first year with a team. The Bills need to make sure not to re-sign him after '09 though.

The prime time game in Toronto is a joke. Here in Rochester being a secondary market, alot of Bills fans are very upset that game won't be on locally considering our cable company is Time Warner and they don't carry the NFL Network. If I were a Bills fan, I'd be livid.

People are glad that they aren't taking winter home field advantage away but still pissed for two reasons:

    1) Its happening.
    2) Its another divisional rival.

Why exactly is this happening? I mean is the beginning of a slow process that will eventually see the Bills move to Toronto?

I wonder if they are attempting to relocate or possibly even add an expansion in TO.

The city could certainly support it. Especially if they built a new stadium (or dome - Whatever) on the SouthWest side near Mississauga which would allow a very high population base from Hamilton, the North/East Burbs as well as the Kitchener/Waterloo/Cambridge area.

I've been a Bills fan as long as I can remember simply because I lived closest to them when the early 90's teams were kicking the AFC's backside.

If the Bills were to move they would undoubtedly make a lot more money; an expansion team could also survive.

Bills and Eagles on the verge of a trade for Jason Peters.

Good LT's don't grow on trees but good riddance to his a-hole. He wants to be the highest paid OT or at least match Jordan Gross's contract. Peters held out last year and had a very subpar year but still made the Pro Bowl based on reputation. It's the same way Ruben Brown made it year after year. The Bills will get a first and something for him so I'm not too saddened by the news that he will probably be going.

The trade is completed. We get the Eagles 1st round pick (28), their 4th, and a conditional pick next year. Absolutely awful Brandon. We didn't even get their first 1st round pick.

I like it though; you're not going to get a high 1st rounder for a discontented player who held out last year.

I'd rather have a late rounder anyway; less guaranteed money yet still a good player.

I'm assuming the other AFL teams are doing throwbacks as well (SD, Oakland, Jets, Denver etc etc?) if so, have you seen pics of them anywhere?

RUMOR RUMOR RUMOR... I've received numerous texts and calls saying Mike Vick is in Buffalo,

For what it's worth Adam Schefter twittered that Buffalo and Dallas are two sleeper teams in the Vick sweepstakes.

If Buffalo completes this signing it assures nothing but a circus atmosphere and quite honestly, I love it. It gives Bills fans SOMETHING to look forward to (no matter how it turns out).

The Bills fired their OC today. Alex Van Pelt is the new OC after serving as QB coach. Turk said that he was limited in what he could do and that Jauron wants a simplistic offense. The word is that Turk was very unpopular with the players. Ralph Wilson supports Schonert being released of his duties. The Bills will continue to use the no-huddle.

Not a great way to start a season.
