Barry Bonds as our 4th (or 5th OFer)?

Or Rick Barry or Barry Larkin or Barry Zito or Chuck Zito or Chuck Knoblauch or Chuck Conners or anyone.

Don't we have enough corner OF's DH's as is? I don't understand all of these threads looking for another below average fielder with a decent bat. We have Nady, Swisher, Damon, Matsui for 3 positions. The one move we could make is for a good fielding CF (cameron).

or maybe a good package out of:

    Melky
    Gardner
    Igawa
    Nady
    Swish
    Matsui
    Kennedy

could be put together for DeJesus.
On the other hand, you have different fingers.

Why would the Royals want to unload DeJesus to acquire any of these players? Really the only ones that I think might interest them are Kennedy and Swish. It's going to take more than that.

JDPNYY - had you considered Bonds as our Utility Infielder guy? Think about it.

That would need to be discussed in 2 to 3 separate threads.

I think we should scrap our idea of an "outfield" and go with Sammy Sosa, Barry Bonds, and Luis Gonzalez.

We should re-sign Ivan Rodriguez to play catcher. Next, acquire Mark McGwire and Matt Williams to man the corners and cut A-Rod and Tex.

Obviously, at shortstop we should go with Miguel Tejada and then I support a platoon of Roberto Alomar/Brett Boone at second.

Our bench should be Jose Canseco, Rafael Palmeiro, and John Jaha for late inning power.

What do you guys think? 100 wins? maybe we have a shot to shatter the Mariners record

Yeah but it might shatter if he gets beaned by a 62 MPH Tim Wakefield knuckleball.

With no damn one to catch that knuckler this year for the Red Sox, that might be the best option for our friends up in New England.

If someone signed him, and then he was convicted and went to jail, would you still have to pay him?

Yeah but you could buy your way out of jail; much like OJ did back in 1994.

The Royals would probably want at least one major-league ready guy (Nady, Swisher, Veras) and a few decent prospects (Kennedy, Miranda, etc.). DeJesus won't come cheap but I think he is worth pursuing. If that deal falls through, the Cameron deal could be put back together.

Barry Zito is not an outfielder. He's a catcher. And why do so many posters keep talking about DeJesus, DeJesus, when I don't think I've read even one story about him, not even from story teller George King III. We're NOT getting him, period! Nor Matt Kemp either. Nada. Nor Mike Cameron. But we might get Manny which would be great and possibly Rocco Baldelli if we can clear out Swisher, Nady and Melky.

Chuck Knoblauch is no longer in professional baseball. He makes too good a living traveling in carnivals where he demonstrates his ability to hit people in the head with a baseball.

    Ever think about Anger Management?

(Barry Zito plays OF... all three positions. Catcher... heh heh)

Bonds as a pinch hitter? Ooch. Too bad he has legal troubles.
