    Arrests at Yankee Stadium

Hey, not sure if this has already been discussed, but when I finally left the Stadium last night around 1:15 a.m. there was a huge group of handcuffed people gathered by the cops in the food court. People were heckling through the gates and at one point a "Let Them Go!" chant erupted. Anybody have any stories of arrests/have any idea what the offenses were?

Obviously, there was that guy who ran onto the field at the end, and some people probably tried to steal things. When I left I saw the "Beware of Scalpers and Counterfeit Tickets" sign barely hanging onto the outside wall of the Stadium and when I asked a cop standing below it if someone really tried to steal the sign, he replied, "Yep. He's a midget now."

I would guess it was people trying to grab some souvenirs.

I was there - they used the cafe area like a holding pen. The held the men and women bent over in the tables to hand cuff them. Then they led them out into a paddy wagon thru gate 6. I asked the cops what they had done, "they stole cup holders". Cup holder are only in Field Championship seats so I'm sure they'll be able to afford good lawyers . And I saw the police boxing up the evidence. I took pictures too - I'll post them soon.

About the guy that ran on to the field - I only saw the guy when he passed the horses and then got tackled. How the hell did the guy get past the line of police and the line up of cops on horses??? If anyone has a link to a video of this from the beginning, I'd love to see it.

i dont have a video but it was great, they just let him run right by the riot line, as if they knew he was really gonna get it and sure enough he did. he ren past them and tripped right by the horses. then he was taken down and that was it.

The moment I saw that I thought to myself, what an idiot - I hope he didn't get hurt too bad.

He was clearly one of those people who felt like he needed to take the challenge. But I second that sentiment--what an idiot. Haha.

I could not figure out how to reduce my photos so I put them in photo bucket but they are in backwards order - my first time using it. I hope you can see the pics.

I'm surprised that the people shown clearly on ESPN chipping off pieces of the concrete outside the stadium didn't get arrested -- you would think that's considered vandalism too....

Steal sign was on for fans at final game
Some fans took the trip down memory lane a little too literally.

Cops working at Yankee Stadium ticketed or arrested 39 fans Sunday for everything from drinking to trying to walk away with precious memorabilia.

    The breakdown includes:

18 people charged with criminal mischief or stealing stadium property, including plaques, signs and cupholders.
2 people for dashing across the field.
18 people for downing alcohol in open containers.
    1 man for scalping tickets.
Police were in full force inside The House That Ruth Built on the final game night.

Some officers were dressed in uniform but others blended in street clothes.

Stadium security also was on high alert.

Some of the strangest crimes included Virginian William Mattison, 37, who allegedly swiped cupholders, and Manhattanite Timothy Doherty, 24, who cops say was caught trying to take bunting from the upper deck's American flag.

I saw that too and couldn't believe it - not that they were doing it, but that they appeared to be getting away with it!

If they'd let that nut that ran onto the field go just a few steps further, the least of his problems would have been being tackled. I don't think I'd want to box with a horse.

Thanks to those who posted the photos. It's even funnier now than it was on Sunday.

You cant arrest 57,000 people for ataking off paint chips on a building that is going to be demolished. The yankkes should have been arrested for (as usual) jacking up the prices on everything as compared to the regular season games. Beer was $8.50 for a can of miller Lite.

I wasn't suggesting arresting 57,000 people for taking paint chips, lol.
I'm just pointing out the fact that:

    1. I'm bitter because I didn't take any concrete or chips of paint from outside while at the Saturday game, cuz I didn't want to run the risk of getting arrested, thinking that the police would be out in full force for EVERYTHING, lol

    2. if they are going to be sticklers and enforce "no vadalism or destruction of property" then shouldnt that include the structure of a building, despite the fact that it will be torn down eventually....

Did anyone see the 2nd guy run on the field? I didn't see any commotion or anyone getting pummeled like the first guy before I saw him being brought down the right field line in 'cuffs.

I saw a few people stealing stuff. I hope they all got caught and got their asses kicked inside BX Central Booking. If you stole something you are not a Yankee Fan nor do you respect the Stadium and its memorys. We Yankee fans always pride ourselves as the best and most knowledgable fans in sports. Where is the pride in vandalizing "The Stadium"? I bet some of these fans rarely attend games anyway. Guy sitting next to me didnt understand why Jeter was pulled in middle of the inning. Im sure plenty of true fans would have love that clowns seat!

Well on page 8 of the Daily News there is a picture of a lady taking a piece of paint or cement off the outside of the building yesterday.

I think Im going to be there the day it is demolished, my uncle's former company built the new stadium, just think when its demolished they take that stuff to a dump, I mean if you want a piece of the building it will be easily available.

I just wondering how many people who weren't even at the game will put a roll of toilet paper or a napkin with mustard on it on ebay and claim it came from the last game at Yankee Stadium. Some fool would buy it, rest assured.
