He doesn't need to hit for the extra bases because he is that good at swiping them, without getting caught. There are not a lot of players you can really say that about, but he is one of them.
You are being a little unfair. Ichiro reached 700 AB's in only 1 of his 7 seasons; he scored over 100 runs in all of them averaging 28 2B's, 9 3B's and 10HR's with 50 walks. His lifetime BA is .331 (great for a modern player) with a .431 slugging pct. Keelers lifetime BA was a great .341 with a slugging pct of .415
There is no need to denegrate the contributions of a great player

Shoe-in for the first Japanese player to make the Hall of Fame. He might be a singles hitter, but he's probably the best singles hitter ever.
Would he be the first Japanese player inducted into the HoF in any of the major American sports? I can imagine Japan going nuts over it.
I can't possibly imagine there being a HoF NBA, NFL, NHL player...Not even sure if a Japanese player has ever played in any of those 3 leagues either.

There might be a player who's like Hines Ward who has been inducted, but I don't think there has been a player who is both ethnically and nationally Asian who has been inducted.

He's ethnically half Korean. Well, you're right, but you know what I meantI don't know this at all for sure, but he is probably an American citizen as well. And anyway, that doesn't take away from Ichiro
