Grats to Ichiro on tying Willie Keeler for 8 straight seasons of 200+ hits.
Dude can flat out hit.

29 extra base hits this year.
Still, an amazing ballplayer.
He doesn't need to hit for the extra bases because he is that good at swiping them, without getting caught. There are not a lot of players you can really say that about, but he is one of them.
You are being a little unfair. Ichiro reached 700 AB's in only 1 of his 7 seasons; he scored over 100 runs in all of them averaging 28 2B's, 9 3B's and 10HR's with 50 walks. His lifetime BA is .331 (great for a modern player) with a .431 slugging pct. Keelers lifetime BA was a great .341 with a slugging pct of .415Originally Posted by Cuban Connection

Yogi is a National Treasure. Let's put him in a National Hall of Fame. The man has no peers.
I had to look that up! Keeler had a .341 career BA.Originally Posted by Nome

He's always been a great base-stealer, but this year is damm impressive. 43 steals, against 4 times caught. That's good stuff.Originally Posted by blumj
well done Ichiro. im sure he will break it next season
Shoe-in for the first Japanese player to make the Hall of Fame. He might be a singles hitter, but he's probably the best singles hitter ever.
Would he be the first Japanese player inducted into the HoF in any of the major American sports? I can imagine Japan going nuts over it.
I can't possibly imagine there being a HoF NBA, NFL, NHL player...Not even sure if a Japanese player has ever played in any of those 3 leagues either.Originally Posted by teknetic

There might be a player who's like Hines Ward who has been inducted, but I don't think there has been a player who is both ethnically and nationally Asian who has been inducted.Originally Posted by THEBOSS84
Sorry I mistyped. It was .341. You would think that since I type with only two fingers there would be fewer typing errors.Originally Posted by Big_E

I don't know this at all for sure, but he is probably an American citizen as well. And anyway, that doesn't take away from Ichiro
