He has 10 starts left, give or take a start. He needs 6 wins.
I think he ends up with about 18 or so.
Yes, he will win 20 this year
No, he will fall short again.

Lead the way, Mr. Girardi.

Yes. I think he's gonna do it.
3 4 5 7 8 10 16 37
6 W's in 10 opportunities is tough. i say 18 as well ...
Here are the games he's lined-up to start for the rest of the year:
@ Texas
@ Minnesota
@ Toronto
@ Baltimore
Toronto
@ Seattle
@ LA Angels
White Sox
Baltimore
@ Boston
I think he'll lose at Boston and Anaheim, get two no-decisions along the way, but finish the year at 20-9.
Mussina has been lights out all year so I say yes, this is the year he finally gets it.
Boston Globe, November 13, 2009, "The Yankees AJ Burnett wins the 2009 CY Young".
Mussina for Cy Young?(regardless of whether he is the best pitcher, if he gets 20 wins with his current ERA he has a shot)
I think he sneaks across the finish line.
Cliff Lee is better than him in all categories unfortunately. The ones that the writers care about anyway.Originally Posted by JeterRodriguezSheff

Moose for 20 would be dream come true.
I would be so happy for Mussina if he gets 20 wins!
Hope he does it but down the stretch I think you might see a couple no decisions as the leash gets shorter. Plus with the unpredictible offense, it wouldn't surprise me to see some low scoring losses.
Was really good to see him have an outstanding game after a bad last start.

I really, really hope he gets it but just have this bad feeling he will fall short at 19. I hope that I am wrong.
New York Yankees: 27 Time World Series Champions!
Not with this offense..............too Bad.
19 with two starts to go. he'll pitch well in one and not get a decision. in the other he'll leave before the end of the 6th and lose.

moose's career ERA in september is just under 3.00.
i say he does it.
I'd say he'll win 19 this year which will leave him 31 short of 300 career wins. I'd like to see him get his 300th in 2010 as a Yankee

Yogi is a National Treasure. Let's put him in a National Hall of Fame. The man has no peers.
I hope he goes 10-0 and hit 24 but voted he'll come up short.

Depends, will Joe G. finagle a way to work him away from starting against Baltimore again? If so, then yes.
Sad to say it but I think he may fall just short again. An inconsistent offense tied in with the fact that Moose can still be prone to a blowout here and there is not a good equation for 20 wins but I think he will get 18 which is still extraordinary for a 39 year old pitcher.

Having witnessed first hand his performance over the weekend, I feel a lot better about it than a week ago. I still think, with all of the other factors, that it's a big long shot. I think he ends up at 18 but I'll be cheering like hell for him to get 20...

Also: To all the mediots who actually bought into the "we're into defensive metrics now" Sox meme? You're morons.
I hope so, if he keeps on pitching like he has been and the bullpen holds up he has a great shot.
I voted no, not because of Moose, but because of this team's inept offense.
updating...
7 on the road, most against good teams or teams that play us well, unreliable offense...
Probably not.
Baseball is supposed to be FUN!!!
Winning 60% of his starts would be worse than what he has done year to date. I think he gets there because he realizes his HOF chances likely are on the line (as stupid as that is) and will lobby to stay deeper in games and be more creative.
I think Moose will be in the hall regardless of how he finishes the season.Originally Posted by simmy886

It's possible, but look what we have gotten out of him already. I think anything else from here on out is an even bigger bonus.
Looking better now more than ever.
Its going to be tough but I think the way he's pitching, that its finally going to happen. He has some suspect opponents coming up, but the offense needs to make sure they pick him up.

He better if we wanna make the playoffs, we are going to have to win alot of those games.. I hope he gets some run support as well for some of those games..
On a side note, I attended a Mike Mussina dinner before the season started, My mother had recently found out she had breast cancer and was fighting through it at the time, I got her a pink Yankees bat, and at the moose dinner I bought her a moose stuffed animal with a pink shirt. When Moose signed the bat for my Mom he told me to wish her the best and he hopes she would be ok. My mom was almost in tears when she got the gifts. I really got to appreciate Mike for the guy he is by going to that dinner. It's really easy to cheer him on this year in his pursuit of the Cy Young, 20 wins and that championship. My mom has recovered well and now she cheers a little extra harder when moose pitches![]()
Doin' it again in 2010..
He needs five more with 2 months left. XX

I'd certainly love to see it. I love watching him pitch, and I think it's about time it happened for him.
If he can somehow avoid pitching against Baltimore, I think he does it.

God I hope so....
Mike Mussina's ressurection to his career has been the only thing worth watching for me this season.....
I voted "no" & I very much hope that I'm wrong. Moose is a HoF guy that has only ALMOST been perfect, multiple times -- AND vs. the Red Sox as a Yankee, AND a Gold Glover ... I'd love to see the guy get the stats & the WS ring to go to Cooperstown.
GoYanks!
