Thank you so much, trust me you won't be disapointed. Now just to warn you guys, there's going to be a lot of different players in this thread. It won't be organized like the way I want to, but trust me you'll enjoy them.
So here we go!
I'll start off with Rogers Hornsby:

Here's a few of John McGraw:

I'd like to say that so far.... so good. Way good.
Thanks George H.
If I had 3 wishes... One of my wishes would be to make a select few of you Pirates Fans.
Incredible pictures so far, I can't wait to see what other photos you have.

I've already told you some of this stuff, but I really want to hear the story behind Cobb and Mantle (since I didn't even realize they'd ever met).
I'm also fascinated by the picture of Satchel in a Yankee uniform (Alexander set). Hadn't realized he ever wore one -- from what you told me, it has to be the Black Yankees, but I didn't know they had identical uniforms.
Have to tell me the story behind the Cobb and Mathewson photo, as well. They never faced each other, to my knowledge, so I'd like to know the circumstances of this meeting.
And the one of the young Eddie Collins is just great.

Here's a little info behind the questions you've asked, as soon as I get more time I'll go into more details.Originally Posted by penguin4

Also I dont have much information on the Satchal Paige picture with Grover, but as soon as I do, i'll let you know.
I'm sure there's a lot of Babe Ruth fans here, so I guess its time for me to show off the Babe Ruth photos.

Wow there's some great stuff in this thread. Thanks for sharing with us.

Here's some pictures of the Iron

Wow, I do believe that's William Bendix a graying Babe is teaching how to hit in that photo!
Lots more I want to say, and thanks for the Gehrig photos -- a couple in there I definitely hadn't seen before!

Time to post some photo's of Rube Waddell. Now I don't know if anyone knows the story behind Rube, but it was very hard to take pictures of him because he was crazy and he didn't like when people took pictures of him at some point of his career. So hopefully you guys enjoy these.

I'm sure a lot of people here want to see some Mickey Mantle photos so that's what I am going to be posting next. Hopefully you enjoy these.

Hey there, George H. Ruth ... I'm wondering if you have any of Babe pitching for the Yankees?

Picture 20-21 is when Joe DiMaggio makes the catch and Mickey Mantle injures his knee in the 1951 World Series.
I'm sure I can round some Babe Ruth pitching for the Yankees for you, and I see that your a Ted Williams fan Dave. I'll be adding some pictures of him just for you, later on.

Thanks much, Mr. Ruth.Originally Posted by George H. Ruth

Here's Ted Williams for my new found friend Dave. Hopefully he enjoys them, same goes for everyone else, even though your Yankee fans.
That's all I have for now, I'll be adding some more later on.

I'll tell you, Babe, you're one heck of a nice friend to have here at NYYFans. Love the Ted Williams photo's ... and all the others pictures I've seen in this thread are absolutely terrific for sure. Glad Tara started this thread for you. NYYFans is lucky you've found you way here! Keep the collection coming.Originally Posted by George H. Ruth

These are terrific pictures! I especially enjoyed the ones of the Babe with William Bendix and Gary Cooper.
Also, those Mantle pictures brought back alot of great memories of Mickey swinging from the heals for homers. Keep them coming!![]()

Time to post some pictures of Wahoo Crawford.

Time to post some pictures of the greatest pitcher of all time in my opinion. Time to post pictures of The Big Train.

Dave, I was able to find two pictures of Babe Pitching, as you probably know, Babe didn't pitch much in a Yankee uniform, so the pictures are real hard to find.

Holy cow, those pictures of Babe pitching are AWESOME! I've never seen that before. Look where his arm comes in the first one -- it's like twisted, and looks so unnatural. I wonder if somewhere an old newsreel exists with any footage of his delivery; I'd be very interested to know what he did.
And yeah, I was very interested to see those Mantle-tripping-on-the-drain photos, as well. Other famous moments I didn't know were preserved in photo. They're far shots, but you can tell he's in agony, and it's cool to see the actual angle and setup of the play.
Glad you and Dave finally found each other. I knew you'd be a hit.![]()

And I am very glad that George H. Ruth has come on the scene, Tara. Really neat seeing some of the Babe pitching for the Yankees. I was hoping there would be one from the game on October 1, 1921 - where Babe hit little Whitey Witt, of the Athletics, with a pitch in a relief appearance.![]()

The second picture had to be from that crazy game in 1930 where Babe pitched and Lou played left field. They didn't have "Yankees" on their away uniform in 1933.Originally Posted by Dave Visbeck

I got some good feedback on the Babe Ruth pictures that I posted, here's a few more for you guys and gals.

Theres a lot of players that had big muscles and like to show them off, but no one like Jimmie Foxx did, so that brings me to my next legend. Jimmie Foxx.
![]()

That isn't Jackie Mitchell, is it?
Damn. To me, Foxx looks a lot like one of the Baldwin brothers. Maybe that brother should play Foxx in a movie.![]()

No Dave that isn't Jackie Mitchell it's Babe Didrikson, the picture was taken March 19, 1934.
Jimmie Foxx as always been one of my favorite players. I would love to see a movie dedicated to him.
That photo of Foxx with Ruth and Gehrig I recognize as the one they pasted a young James Earle Jones' face over in The Sandlot.![]()

For you Yankee Buffs out there, whos the player between Gehrig and Dimmagio?
![]()
It kinda looks like Ben Chapman. But it's hard to say because I'm kinda seeing double. I think that's Monte Pearson on the other side of Joe D.Originally Posted by George H. Ruth

The player on the right of Joe D is Bill Dickey.
I'll be posting more pictures of the great Dimmagio shortly.

You sure about that? If it is, it's a really bad angle of him. When's the photo from?Originally Posted by George H. Ruth

I'm not exactly sure when it was dated, but I know it's between 36-39.
Yes I am sure it's Bill Dickey.
P.S is it possible to sticky this thread? I'll be postings tons and tons of more pictures. ITs going to become bigger then the other photo threads at these forums.
Yeah, the 36-39 was as far as I got, too -- doesn't help much.Originally Posted by George H. Ruth

I don't know about stickying. You'll have to ask a mod. Usually that's reserved for more important threads, like announcements and things you don't want to see buried. If you keep updating this it'll keep going to the top of the pile, so probably unnecessary.
