I guess once you've seen it, it's okay to see the deleted scenes: http://youtube.com/watch?v=SZ5slpLFgyQ&feature=related
You've got nothing to believe in but believing in yourself.

I thought that too. It's probably a deleted scene somewhere. There have been a few shots from either trailers or websites that were not in the movie - most notably the picture on whysoserious.com of the Joker in the back seat of a car sitting behind a henchman.

    SPOILER QUESTION:

Why was it necessary to fake Gordon's death? He was driving Dent's truck, it could have been any single cop who did the job of getting Joker under arrest.

It either had to do with him being the Joker's next likely target due to his connection to both Batman and Dent, and/or to let the mob know that the one non-dirty cop is now gone

Interesting. They definitely didn't make it obvious as to why it was necessary.

Re: Dark Knight - Post viewing discussion and review thread

The writing's simply amazing. The Joker's the ultimate movie villain, comic book or otherwise. They finally did justice to this character, emphasizing that he has no real motives, no reason for his madness. He's a psychological mastermind that wants to display that everyone's the same. No one's better. Which is why he's obsessed with Batman. My only worry, with Ledger's unfortunate passing, combined with the fact that he nailed this role SO well, that we as fans are going to suffer because we'll never get to see this amazing villain brought to life for a long long time (until another re-start/interpretation of this franchise), the villain depth chart is diminishing. Atleast from a popular AND realistic point of view, i.e. guys like clayface, killer croc. We're down to villains like the Riddler and Catwoman. Here's my question....

Harvey died but Two-Face survived that fall? Right? The montage at the end with Gordon saluting the White Knight is mourning the death of Dent but I'm just concerned that there may be a thought that he MIGHT not return since preserving Dents image was such an intrical part of winning the battle for Gothams spirit that they may have killed him off?

Also looking ahead, while many may love the Riddler, I believe that Catwoman is the odds on favorite to debut in the next film. She may not be the main antagonist but... with Rachel dead I'm sure there will be a big push for her as a love interest, we know studios feel they NEED characters like this, even though they aren't always right

If the guy is clever enough to take control of every criminal in Gotham, he's probably clever enough to get out of a building.
Something very key in what brosiusbuddy just said here is something that conicides with something Alfred Hitchcock said about movies. The most boring movies are about people getting in and out of cars. Too many shots of people getting from one place to another is boring.

I've got IMAX tickets for tonight (finally).

I've never seen the same movie more than once at a theater before this past week. This will be my third viewing of TDK.

And in a month or so it will open at this discount theater a mile from my house that only charges 2 bucks. Awww yeah.

Re: Dark Knight - Post viewing discussion and review thread

Just got back from seeing it for the second time- on IMAX. People, you have to go see this on IMAX. The difference is amazing.

For some reason, the first time I saw the film on a regular screen, the dialogue was not as clear- I couldn't pick it up and was subsequently confused on a few subplots. That sonar scene at the end was a jumbled, gargled mess verbally on the regular screen. IMAX not only has an amazing screen (Hong Kong break-in!!!!) but the sound seemed a lot crisper to me. It was my first trip to an IMAX screen........ just amazing.

Knowing the plot-points after seeing it the first time really made the second trip LIGHT YEARS better for me. I just thought the pacing was a bit too fast on the first viewing. I am a huge Batman fan, so I was impressed anyway after the first viewing, but I was blown away (as was my wife) after seeing it again tonight. I always ask my wife for a rating based on four stars after we see something. Tonight when I asked her, she said: "I've never really seen a four star film before, so I wouldn't know what to compare it to. But if there is such a thing as a four star, perfect film, that was it."

I just got back from seeing it the 4th time. I love this effin movie.

Going back to the rumor that The Riddler made an appearance.... I'm thinking more and more it's the dude in the ambulance that Harvey tried to get info from about the Joker. Next time you see it, take a look at the set of keys in the ignition. Harvey glances over and they focus on it for a minute. Behind the key there's a bright green tag. I'm not sure what's written behind the key. Maybe a question mark? After Batman tells Dent that this paranoid scytsophrenic was the exact kind of mind the Joker attracts, they leave the scene. Could he have taken the ambulance and ran off and got inspired by that key ring? Silly, maybe. But just something I noticed because the color green was quite familiar and stood out quite a bit. I don't know if it's all just rumor and a bunch of BS, but I'm hellbent on figuring it out now.

Omg he's not Riddler. Batman says his name, it was Thomas Schiff. And more importantly he's a no name actor, no chance in hell Nolan does that. Also that green key chain is just a green key chain. It looked like it was the shape of a razor. No sign of a question mark.

    I wasn't aware I wasn't allowed to speculate.

I'll just keep posting how awesome the movie is from now on. It hasn't been said enough.

Oh, and in the future don't use Spiderman references towards me. I don't want anything to do with that piece of sh*t series.

I think Nolan just left nuggets all over the place for us to think about.

First, it was Anthony Michael Hall saying he had nabbed a role in TDK that would be recognizable to fans of the comic book, that his role was the "$200 million dollar" question or something like that, and it turned out to be nothing.

Then we have Mr. Reese, who knows who Batman is. Mr. Reese=mystery, so he MUST be the Riddler (I hope not because he does not seem very threatening in stature).

Now we have the dude, Thomas Schiff, driving an ambulance with green on the keychain.

Nolan is just messing with us. He knows we'll freak out over this stuff and I think he secretly kind of enjoys it. But ultimately its much ado about nothing.

Anthony Michael Hall could make a good villain. Hmmm....

Re: Dark Knight - Post viewing discussion and review thread

Anthony Michael Hall doesn't have the stature to be selected for a leading role in one of these films. Whatever villain(s) Nolan chooses to go with for the third film, we're going to see actors the caliber of Ledger and Eckhardt - guys who are very talented, respected, and known (if not outright stars like Neeson).

Just sitting here thinking..what a shame Ledger isn't around to reprise the Joker.

I saw it last night, a 10:20 start. It ended at 1:00, but I wish it lasted later.

Amazing movie. I think that is all that needs to be said.
