Why do they do this again?
I heard this today...Did Coltrane actually exist? This is like being blind for 50 years, regaining sight, and then peering directly at the sun.

I'm only compassionate when people get hurt through no fault of their own. I think stupid is as stupid does, and these people deserve it.

Do you think the bull removed it by gently backing it out or what?

The people who do this have got to be some of the stupidest mofos on the planet.

Of course, bullfights are even worse. Talk about animal abuse. The whole intent is to anger and injure the bull, and then to kill it in the end. Sometimes a bull is granted a reprieve of sorts, often dying of dehydration and infection of wounds sustained during the fight before it can go back to pasture. It's barbaric. In one of my college Spanish classes, a girl did an oral report on it and brought a video. It made us all sick. I had to turn away because it was so disturbing. I can't believe it's still legal in so many places. They do unspeakably horrible things, causing immense suffering, to those animals.

Exactly Jenn. To injure the bull, taunt (sp?) it and then kill it in the end is just bizarre to me - I know it's a tradition but it's one tha's bamboozling.

Agreed! I'm not a horse racing fan for the same reason. The animals have not choice in the matter.

Well since you've brought it up again Sam, I will answer your 2 posts which I believe are directed at me. I don't have a problem with killing animals to FEED people however I do have a problem killing them so people can wear a fur coat and I do have a problem with the whole circus, bull fighting, running with the bulls, rodeo etc because I personally believe it's cruel to the animals.

There are other ways of feeding people. I doubt the animal feels better because it will become food. But its nice to know YOU feel better.

The whole event has turned into one big opportunity for douche Americans studying abroad in Spain to get real drunk and pretend to do something 'dangerous' or 'extreme' just so they can tell their collar-popping buddies back home about their 'wild' Spanish experience.

Pretend? There's not much pretending when getting chased by a bull.

There is a difference for killing an animal slow and painfully purely for sport, and killing it for survival and food. Animals kill eachother in the wild all the time, but they have a reason which is survival. Things like Bull fights really serve no purpose at all.

No one's been killed in 13 years and, despite appearances, getting gored or trampled isn't any more damaging than most tackle football injuries.

'Running with the bulls' is decidedly less dangerous than being stuck in Cape Cod traffic with New York plates.

Yes they can, however the point is not that they cant the point is that there is an actual purpose for when an animal is killed for food rather than sport. And if you want to go that route plants as well are living things and there was a recent study determining that they can in fact feel pain, that i am going to attempt to find now.

Regardless we as humans have the ability to eat both plants and animals, and i cannot fault anybody for whichever living thing they choose to kill in order to survive.

Horse racing is a little different.
Those horses love to run and love the competition along with the feeling of winning.

Michael said, "My leg was in shambles. You could see the bone and the muscle and all the tendons and everything."
Instead, the trip left the younger of the two brothers recovering from an injury that nearly severed his right leg.

"They actually took the skin that was left around and got it back on his leg," the father said.

Lawrence was recovering from an 8-inch cut on his buttock.

At a Pamplona hospital both are in stable condition, undergoing heavy dosages of antibiotics and said they feel hopeful about the future.

"They're telling us both that there won't be any long-term issues," Lawrence said. "We'll both have some nasty scars in different locations. But they're most worried about infection because the bull's horn is pretty dirty."

Leg still attached...and he probably is walking normally now...but i still wouldnt sign up.

How do you know that? Did they tell you, personally?

I'm just glad not to see the pic of when the bull removed the horn. They'd have to tranquilize or shoot the bull in order for that not to be one pile of spattering blood all of everyone within a 10 foot diameter.

According to this article, the last person to be gored to death was 13 years ago, but there's other ways to be killed by a bull:
The last fatality from a goring was a 22-year-old American, Matthew Tassio, in 1995. In 2003, a 63-year-old Pamplona native, Fermin Etxeberri, was trampled in the head by a bull and died after spending several months in a coma.
On Sunday, a 23-year-old Irishman died after falling from an ancient wall that encircles the old quarter of Pamplona.
