Sox take Michael Lee, previously picked twice by the Yankees.
Cashman told Accorsi, “I feel the responsibility of millions of Yankee fans on my shoulders, fans who take this very seriously and for which every game is very important. I think of that every day.”

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can follow along pick-by-pick? The draft tracker on MLB.com won't work on my work computer (no flash), BA isn't updating its draft database and I'm trying to keep up to see if any of the Florida guys are drafted. Thanks for the help!

Brewer did well at the Cape.

  19. #119

    Re: 2008 Draft Thread - Day 2

Another guy who played well on the Cape last summer. Seems to be part of Oppenheimer's M.O. high ceiling players and guys whose play on the Cape might show something that aluminum bats do not.

I tend to wonder if the Yankees have some kind of statistical study showing that performance at the Cape translates best to performance at the major league level. Every guy we pick, it seems, had a great Cape season.

They play with wood bats there so, I'm guessing they like the fact that these players can make the transition from aluminium to wood fairly easy.

No. I've never seen the players we've picked play. So I don't know enough to be upset or tremendously happy.

There is not a person on here who has ever drafted or had a hand in the development of minor league players. There are no draft experts here. Otherwise, we'd have heard of these guys. I mean, have you heard of the guys anybody else is drafting? Me either.

So essentially you are passing judgement off of incomplete third-hand name recognition... it just sounds silly. People here know stuff, but the MLB draft is such a crapshoot that teams with multimillion dollar scouting departments dont know everything

We should at least learn about the players further than are they name-brand
