Well that sucked. I was hoping Talib would slip two more spots.

Skins pick -- Sweed or Devin Thomas?

Sam Baker is good but Atlanta is not a team that should have moved up. As ESPN was saying, they have a lot of needs.

Dallas could have their pick of the litter at WR here. What do you think Ox? Who are they taking?

Surprised Baker went this high. Every Mock had him dropping to the 2nd round.

that said, he is alot better than he showed this year. He was a 4 year starter at USC and that is pretty impressive.

I want Sweed. I wanted Sweed in our Mock.
The trade for Pacman means they don't HAVE to go CB, but they could go with Mike Jenkins.
They can wait until 28 for Felix Jones. If he's gone, they can wait even longer for Round 2. Or, they can take the guy I took in the Mock, Mendenhall.

    Lots of great options here...

Flutie is one of the reasons 22 became my number.
I was 10 when he threw the Hail Mary, and he became one of my favorites.

I'm not gonna kill it. JJ was determined to get one guy from Arkansas.
He's a perfect fit. Guess they didn't want to chance him being gone at 28.

Re: The 2008 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

UPDATE - Get Falcons, 34th, 48th picks in the second round, plus a 4th rounder)
The tackle Atlanta took is a bit of a reach, and the Skins still have a tackle they like, Duane Brown of Va tech, who they could probably get with their second, second round pick.

It was a shrewd appraoch to look for more value and depth, with a lot of holes to fill in this draft. I could have seen taking Jenkins, because he could be a stud, but given what positions they have to fill, it made sense not to take a WR here with so much deopth.

Merling might still be there in 10 picks or so, too.

Nice haul for the 21st pick.

Off to the gym -- wouldn't surprise me if the Cowboys trade out of 28 and target someone in Round 2 (unless they can pull Boldin or the other Roy Williams).

    We'll discuss later!!

I wasn't even born, but you can't have any BC football discussion around here without hearing about it. Flutie's always been pretty visible around here -- he's been spotted often at our men's basketball games -- but his nephew Billy is on the BC football team, so that's a pretty good reason why he'd be there (although I think he'd have gone anyway). Point is, the man can simply do whatever he wants here. Good choice for a favorite player.

    Keller to be the pick.

    Postseason OPS: .977

I was hoping the Giants could get Keller if they do infact trade Shockey. Lets see what they do now. Go Giants!

The Giants go with Kenny Phillips.

  34. #184

Re: The 2008 NFL Draft Discussion Thread

That pick is fine with me. Good athlete, good ball skills, good tackler...a proper safety.

Now we just have to wait out the Shockey situation

    He didn't test very well.

That said, I'm shocked Carlson went first.
