Normally i applaud these threads of yours YF, but all of these releases have been discussed ad nauseum when they were posted on scout.com a week ago
SS Ryan Wehrle RELEASED!?!?!?!?!
Color me shocked. Had this kid picked as a high upside sleeper. Maybe the bad attitude thing was to severe to deal with him.
any interest in one time uber prospect brian dopirak?
None from me.Originally Posted by BomberBrian

Cody Ehlers certainly didn't blow the door open last year, why not take a chance at a high upside guy who is 2 years younger and hit 21 MORE HR (39 total) in one season than Ehlers best season (18 HR), both at A ball.Originally Posted by BomberBrian
Downside being he seems to have been on the Cubs 40 man for at least 2 years, I think that means option years will be a problem for him.
EDIT: Also seems to be a terrible fielder, so an AL team he can DH for makes sense too...
http://www.thecubreporter.com/2008/0...r-top-prospectWith the memory of his 2004 season still somewhat fresh, and having been rated a Cubs #1 prospect by Baseball America just three years ago, the 24-year old Dopirak will almost certainly get an offer from another organization, or perhaps from an independent minor league team, probably someplace where he can DH full-time (he's a terrible defensive 1st baseman). And then it will be up to him to take the opportunity and do something with it.
yea you hit on why i'd be interested and that is there is a hole at 1b/dh at trenton.
would seem like someone worth taking a look at.

Yea he was a suprise to me being released. I think they jumped through hoops to sign him if i remember right. He must be a real bad apple.Originally Posted by SDGiant
