The Mets obviously need to recruit some free agents - if not this season than surely in the off-season. What players are going to want to play for a manager who is constantly involved in controversial issues like Bobby V.? We know the story about how Torre pushed just the right buttons to get Moose to sign with us. Valentine's call to Moose was ineffective.

In the Floyd case, Valentine also attacked his agent, Seth Levinson. Levinson represents two Mets, Todd Zeile and Steve Trachsel. Why create potential problems in a losing clubhouse? Levinson also represents well-respected players such as Scott Rolen, Mike Sweeney and Rondell White, who have been linked in trade/free-agent rumors with the Mets. Has Bobby V.'s big mouth ruined any chances of negotiating with Levinson in the future?

Scott Rolen's already had problems with Larry Bowa. Will he want to play for a manager that's just as insane?

Yankee fans, we are blessed to have Joe Torre. Any time you find yourself taking Joe for granted, just read the latest story about Bobby V.

I absolutely think Bobby V. was lying. He is so damn trifling that it's scary...he is just plain trifling and I could see him doing something like this.

On the pregame show today John Sterling said that he knows Floyd's agent and believes that Valentine was setting up Floyd. he believes Floyd's contention that Valentine essentially told he he was ont he team.
When Valentine was interviewed on FAN he said "why didn't he reserve tickets without buying them/" Aside from airline rule, why would he reserve seats to Seattle if Valentine did not imply he was going to be on the team?
Valentine is a piece of Sh*t!

    Neither!

Valentine isn't telling the truth, period! But I also think Floyd has mentally reconstructed the conversation into something more precise, if only to justify that $16K spent on airline tickets.

In short, if you rephrased the question to "who do believe is lying?" I would answer simply "Valentine." I think Floyd has convinced himself that the conversation was what he said, but Valentine knows he's handing out a line.

The truth is somewhere in the middle.

I just heard on ESPN that Valentine has picked Floyd to replace Reed on the NL All-Star team.

The real villian here are the performance clauses negotiated in the contracts. Obviously Floyyd has a bonus coming if he made the All Star squad and his agent saw the money going away. I believe Bobby more than Floyyd and his money hungry agent.

They're both lying. I believe that Valentine called Floyd and promised him an All-Star spot, but I don't believe that Floyd bought $16,000 worth of airline tickets.

I believe more of what Bobby V says than Flloyd (or S&K for that matter, who cares what they "think""), but I don't think either are completly innocent

It was probably a little fault on both sides, but Valentine's case makes more sense...plus, I may not love the guy, but he always seems to be pretty honest to me, despite himself sometimes...I voted Bobby V.

Bobby called and told Floyd something that made him believe he'd be going...on the other there is no way $16,000 of airline tickets are non-refundable, so I voted all of the above!

More than lying, I think it's a case of stupidity. Bobby V no way should have called Floyd for any reason before the selections were announced, wait till he's named or not and then call him to explain either way if you feel the need. Floyd no way should have run out and bought tickets without word from the actual National League or MLB or whoever that he was really going.

I would guess that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

The whole thing could have been avoided if BV didn't pick uo the phone in the first place. I bet next time if a situation such as this occurs BV sends an email and doesn't delete it.
