I'm not sure what stage of treatment he is with his prostate cancer, how he's feeling right now, or even if he was already asked and declined... but Graig Nettles throwing out the first ball would have been a nice gesture.

I'm pretty sure I saw 12:40 PM as the start of the ceremonies in the local papers this morning. West Point cadets, giant Flag and a Flyover. Gates open 2 hours before game time. Get in early.
This move, in my opinion, is all wrong. There should be three people throwing out the first ball. Yogi, Whitey and Bobby Murcer if he is there. Not that other guy who was only a Yankee for a short time and mostly a troublemaker when he was here!

So are they honoring the 78 team or something? I think someone else should throw it out, especially since Reggie threw it out game 4 but its not that big of a deal.

Now we just need someone who hits like Reg-gie did in the post season - no joke!! That dude was incredible, I remember watching those games as a kid and just being in complete awe of his post season clutch hitting abilities. I think he just relished the limelight and rose to the situation, they oughta put toothpicks holding A-Rods eyes open and make him watch those games over and over, he might learn a thing or two.
This sucks. I'm in class when the game is supposed to begin so I won't get to start watching it until about 2:00. And I would like to see Reggie throw out the first pitch. I guess I'll just have to keep the boxscore up while I'm in class. I'll be wearing my new A-Rod jersey tomorrow though!

I would rather have seen Ford throw out the first pitch, but Reggie is a good thought, too. Whitey doesn't make too many appearances at Yankee Stadium - is there a reason for that?

I agree..i love Reggie but we should go with Yogi and I heard today on espn that Bobby Murcer wont be there because he has started chemo-again he might be there this weekend or something like that..but i think Yogi at the last opening day in that stadium would be more fitting maybe Reggie should do All-star stuff since he was showtime...
