It seems wrong referring to him as a "former" Yankee but there it is.
The man is obviously still a god in Japan.
Los Angeles Angels' Hideki Matsui visits a factory of Japanese construction and mining equipment manufacturer Komatsu in Hiratsuka, Japan, Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010. World Series MVP Matsui likes the idea of games between the World Series and Japan Series champions even though he may be retired by the time such a matchup takes place. Matsui made the comments during his promotional visit to the factory.

Nice article in the New York Times by Chad Moeller about pitchers he's caught in his career, including Mariano and a few former Yankees:

some other minor updates of 2009 Yankees:
-Jose Molina is now on the Blue Jays
-Freddy Guzman signed minor league deal with Phillies
-Xavier Nady signed with Cubs
-Wang signed with Nationals

Melky singles in his first AB... never should have gotten rid of this guy. Nice job, Cashman.
Now let's see what Hinske can do.

Two weeks ago, one of the Tigers' biggest questions was whether Austin Jackson will hit in the Major Leagues. Spring Training might not provide a true answer, but so far, he's pounding the Grapefruit League.
Nobody in the Florida half of Spring Training has as many base hits so far this spring as Jackson. Granted, he has the advantage of having more at-bats than anyone this spring, having his leadoff most of the spring for the Tigers, but he's also batting .429 (.515 OBP). Just as impressive to many, he's doing it while posting more walks (5) than strikeouts (4).
lol @ 5 walks and 4 strikeouts.

I stayed up late just to see him in his first game since leaving. I will never get used to Matsui in a uniform other than NY. Loved the "MATSUILAND" sign in the stands. I hope they realize how lucky they are to have him.Originally Posted by Octoberbaby

If you happen to work near 38th and 8th, and enjoy japanese curry, rest assured that Go Go Curry continues to offer one free topping every day following a Matsui home run.
Although I'm not a fan of curry -- that's freakin' awesome!Originally Posted by Mr. Mxylsplk

Carl Pavano currently shutting out the Angels in the sixth. I can't decide whether I'm happier that the Angels are getting shut out or annoyed that it's Pavano that's doing it. At least Matsui is 3-for-3 with a double.
Likes the Yankees.
Austin Jackson went 2-5 with a triple, and 2 Ks.
Kennedy in his season debut, 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 8 Ks.
Still glad we have Granderson, especially after today![]()

I think Jackson and Kennedy will both be good players, but I also think Granderson is going to hit 40HRs as a Yankee and be a top 3-5 center fielder in baseball.Originally Posted by TheGameEpisode2

Agree. It's nice when you can get Bobby Abreu for nothing but, realistically, that rarely happens. For the most part, I think only the studs in the system are going to be kept long-term, and a lot of the guys are going to be used in trades.Originally Posted by Don Wrigley
