With an gimpy Alex and seemingly always gimpy Jorge, along with an aging Jeter there was no place for Matsui on this team. And I sure as hell wanted no part of him anywhere/anytime near LF, which people forget he wanted to play some.

Its my birthday on Saturday and Matsui was my favorite player, and I just received one of those plaques from Steiner that features WS dirt and a photo of our WS MVP from my dad today as a present. Sigh

Amazing what a high upside reliever can do when not banished for weeks at a time.

From Jason Stark's column re: end of the season AL awards...

Austin Jackson is on pace to hit .305, score 107 runs, steal 25 bases and get 188 hits. The only player in history to have a year like that in his rookie season was Ichiro Suzuki, back in 2001. And ohbytheway, on the other side of the ball, the Fielding Bible also ranks Jackson as the No. 1 defensive center fielder in baseball.
For those reasons, he has Jackson #1 on his AL ROTY ballot.

Atlanta used three consecutive pitchers tonight who are former Yankees, Farnsworth, Dunn, and Proctor.

And Farnsy gave up a double and a run, Proctor a HR.

good for him, would have been nice to have him as a 4th OF
The real reason why the Yankees keep winning is cause the other team can't stop staring at the damn pinstripes
