Are those win totals in their post-Yankee career?

Lily and Westbrook came to the Yanks in the Irabu trade. Lily was traded for Weaver. Westbrook was traded for David Justice

Depending on how much we have to pay of Gaudin's salary I think he could be worth a try.

When someone gets DFA'd, the team picking him up only has to pay the league minimum, the original team pays the rest. So if you cut someone making $15 million, the team picking him up pays about $400K and the original team pays $14.6 million.

That being said he was atrocious this year, and I don't see where he could fit in.

He only pitched 17 innings, I think he is worth a minor league deal.

Why would he take a minor league deal from us? I'm sure some team could offer him a major league deal, not to mention I don't recall him being too happy we cut him.

Because there is a very good chance that he will be on a major league team in the playoffs(World Series) with the Yankees.

Rememeber that time the Yankees wouldn't let him pitch throughout the entire post season?

So you want him to accept a minor league deal, but you think a selling point will be that he will be on the post season roster? He was on the roster for all three rounds last year and pitched one inning. Since then, the pitching has been improved, so why would he now suddenly be on the roster?

Gaudin hasn't been quite as awful as you might think. He's striking out more than a batter per inning and has a K/BB ratio of 4-1. Looking at his velocity and his individual stats, there's nothing that shows he should be this bad. I doubt his BABIP stays over .400.

I would offer him a minor league deal, but he can probably do better elsewhere.

Having watched several of his appreances he was pretty bad. These weren't flairs and 27 hoppers finding holes but rather balls crushed in the gaps. Anyway, yeah if he signs an milb deal I'd add him for depth but some struggling team will probably give him a shot at the rotation, maybe.

The guy accepted a minor league deal at the beginning of the season, I would think if there was a major league offer out there he would have taken that one and it's not like an ERA over 8 will have team falling over him.

    No he didn't.

Gaudin, 27, reached agreement Sunday with the A’s, according to major- league sources. He signed a one-year, $700,000 contract and can earn an additional $500,000 in incentives.

The A’s signed Gaudin to a major-league deal and likely will use him out of the bullpen to start the season.

Those are career win totals with all teams. Obviously Towers, who was with the Yankees last year, doesn't have 45 wins since then.

as this article was loading, I saw it was titled "grady sizemore placed on the DL" and assumed that his DL trip was caused by one of Shelley's monstrous elbow-smashes

yea, seems like hes more of a NL pitcher, still wonder how he would have done in the AL East as a #5

How do we know he's just an NL pitcher?

EVERY pitcher does better in the NL. How much higher would his ERA be in the AL? IDK...I need to see a lot more from him, but living in AZ I watch all of his games when I can. (Otherwise I ignore the D-Backs)

Seriously? He threw almost four hundred innings with the Yankees compared to just under 120 with Montreal and Texas.

If you ask any baseball fan what team Irabu played for, they will all say the Yankees.

This undated handout booking photo provided Tuesday, May 25, 2010, by the Gardena, Calif. , Police Department shows former New York Yankees baseball pitcher Hideku Irabu after he was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated. The arrest in Gardena took place on May 17 but wasn't announced until Monday.

Bruney signed a minor league deal with the Brewers today. With the awful shape of their bullpen, maybe he can get another shot this year.

Brian Bruney was a scrap-heap guy when the Yankees got him. Arizona had just let him go.

He was effective enough at times to get overhyped as a bullpen mainstay for the Yankees, but I was always skeptical.

I liked Bruney - I will probably be killed for this but I think he was misused by Torre - every time he walked one person or allowed one hit, he was yanked. I think when he lost weight and pitched under Girardi, he was looking good until he got the foot injury....

5 former Yankees participated in the Cubs/Pirates game on Tuesday night: Xavier Nady (4-4, HR), Alfonso Soriano (1-4), Ted Lilly (L), Jeff Karstens (ND), and Octavio Dotel (S).
If they ask who was our star, give them twenty five names, and if you forget our names, just tell them we were Yankees.
